NOS 2018 Bike Week 2 - Welcome to the Discomfort Zone

Really great first week of work & learning under our belts! now it's time to get to work. It would be really great to post here more!!! hint hint😜

The important thing aside from doing the work is to be conscious of how hard you are working. By the end of your last set, do you have more? or was it REALLY hard. For those of you that are new to this, that is the sign of a good vs not so good FTP #s!

This also creates the opportunity for working harder this coming week. Remember, the goal is to be doing your WKO where your Avg Watts are at 95-100% of FTP. If you are finding it easy(I hope not) or just difficult, this might be the cause for bumping your FTP and doing harder work. Remember, you are capable of much more than you believe! The phrase "get comfortable being uncomfortable" should resonate in every workout.

harder work now = faster YOU in the race season!

Beyond the physical work, is the psychological work of pushing through the pain, this will help you oodles on race day!

  • anyone get thier wkos done today?? hearing crickets here!!!

had some trainer issues today, solved them and banged out 2x15 at a swagged FTP of 240, feeling as if that might be the magic #

  • Tues. workout done: 2X12's, but when I uploaded-it disappeared?? Bummer- I know it means that it didn't happen!

Thurs. done: 2X15' sweetspot both at .88.

Starting to feel some of the bike fitness coming back already, still needs a lot of work.

  • @Mark Lane -sounds like a good workout... sorry it disappeared.. that happened to me a ffew weeks ago..

did 2x18, not sure of the IF as I am unsure of actual FTP.. somewhere between 240 & 250 so that's anywhere from .86 - .9 - will do a short run this afternoon

  • As of last week, I’m in Run Durability, but have added most of the OS bike wkos, so I figured I’d join this fun group to keep me honest and accountable!

I did 2 x 12’ earlier this week at my estimated 240 FTP. The number seemed about right according to effort and HR. The good news is that I generally enter this time of year with a lower FTP. The bad news is that I’m typically 10-12 lbs lighter :/

    Onwards and upwards!

  • I have loaded the NOS but have hacked it a bit by reducing run do to some heel pain. I received some treatment and that seems to be getting better so hopefully I'll be back to full schedule of running. I do the FTP WKO mainly as Zwift races. That usually easily gets me the prescribed time in that .95 area and most times leaves me draped over my bike weeping! I decided that this fall and winter needs to focused on the bike as much as possible. I also try to leave some swim in my winter training so am trying to get shorter quality swims in Monday and Friday. @Scott_D @scott dinhofer Are you uploading these WKOs to Zwift and riding in Erg mode, or just riding by the clock? It looks like real steady power in the intervals.

@Sid Wavrin -- I am working on a run streak so I am hacking runs a bit. That said, starting this Sunday I will be doing the RXd long run as I need to start building my long run!

did 4.4 miles today. felt like I was taking it ez... was sub 8'/mi!
