2018 EN Turkey Trot - Who's In?
Welcome to the 2018 Endurance Nation Turkey Trot Challenge! The goal is to have fun, stay fit, and keep one another motivated. You need to officially register for the challenge by midnight on Wednesday, November 22nd.
How It Works
Participating members will register online, identify the distance of the race that they have chosen, and enter an estimated finishing time. While everyone's a winner in this challenge, only one of you can do the closest to your predicted finishing time!
That’s Right – You submit your predicted finishing time BEFORE the race happens. S/he who comes the closest, wins!
If you don’t have a road race or similar event available in your town, it's okay to run your own Turkey Trot. Just have one of your family members time you.
Please Note: All participants must provide a link presented as verification after the event, which is put in the registration spreadsheet.
Step One: Register online HERE
Step Two: Visit this forum before and talk great amounts of smack. Pinky promise not to sandbag your performance by picking an easy time that you can hold the pace of. Here's a calculator that can help you out.
Step Three: Run your race without your GPS watch, making sure to flash the Endurance Nation gang sign at the finish line. Primal scream optional.
Step Four: Return to the registration sheet and enter your official finish time in the space provided next to your name. A winner will be announced on Monday, November 26th.
Comments
as much as i want to, I am actually racing my TT as a run test and will be looking at my watch often. Good luck and happy thanksgiving to all!
Does entering a 1-mile Turkey Trot with the intent of running with my kids count? Estimated finish time ~13 min?
@Jeff Phillips sure does
Oh, the without your watch thing. boo.
@Janyne Kizer - makes it more fun.
@Al Truscott I know you just finished IMAZ but you were the winner last year. Are you coming back to keep your title?
IN. I don't know how to run outside in the cold. Can I bring my treadmill?
I'm in. Running a good old fashioned 5 k turkey trot
Now they’re calling for sub 30 degrees. I will be so bundled up it will be hard to move my arms and legs. I think I might do a TM Mary instead. JK
I'm in. I'll have to do my own and have my husband time. We'll be visiting family and I don't want to burn up any SAUs or FAUs by finding a race.
I'm doing a Turkey Trot but I'm a watch wearer so DQ'd from the challenge ;-)
@Alicia Chase I know a few people who are doing roll-your-own-dogs-allowed turkey trots! One of them has a Strava account for her dog.
@Janyne Kizer I would so do that and Gracie would love it, but she’s staying home with my son.
@Janyne Kizer could be freeing to run without a watch. It would be fun to see how good you are on feeling your pace. Come on, join in on the fun.
@Brenda Ross I've tried to update the spreadsheet, but for some reason it's denying me access, even after logging into Google. I'm doing a 1 mile run with my two little kids. Estimated time 15 min.
Ok, so I’m a DQ before the start. Visiting my brother and doing a roll-you-own-5k. Don’t know how I’ll know I’ve run 5k without my watch. I’m going to set up a screen with just distance and do the run anyway, in support of my turkey-trotting teammates. It will be fun either way.
Dang totally missed this. I must be more diligent in my forum following
Well, ran a bit faster then expected, so only thing I will win is the pie I got for getting 1st overall.
Awesome run Patrick. The pie looks good.
Nice job Patrick!
Thanks for playing everyone. Looks like @Sid Wavrin is our winner this year. @Robert Sabo I could not figure out what your time would be with the overage of the course, but you were the fastest overall out there, so congrats.
