Felt B2, circa 2009-2010. Feedback?

I'm thinking of this as a winter project to build up for my brother.  The year and model selection is because: 1) I want him to be fast, but not too fast; 2) it would hit his fit coordinates; 3) the availability and prices are right, and 4) inspired by the Kiley  "peak aero" shootout, I'm thinking I could make a pretty slippery bike by taking it to 1x11, subbing in a tririg front brake, and adding a Torhans VR (he would race with a wheelcover / h3).     Even faster if I could get a Torhans 30 close to the bayonet fork.

Questions:

-feedback from current or past owners?

-I see a lot of threads on Slowtwitch about the integrated Bayonet fork - were there problems with this?

-any recollection if there were funky proprietary parts on that bike that would be hard to source?  The integrated 'three stem lengths' thing has be pausing.

-Do modern 25 tires fit?   Other obsolescence issues I should think of?

  • @Dave Tallo curious what his size is and the price range you are looking to be in. I have a Cervelo P3 I need to sell.

  • Gary - He would ride a 56. But be warned ... I'm looking for a steal on the build, so my range is very low ... if you're looking to make money from yours, you might do better on ebay or CL.

I'm not much of a build guy but two things that came to mind:

    • seat post. If it's cut and you need a longer one can you get one? I was surprised I could still get a new seat post in 2017 for my 2010 specialized when I crushed it.
    • Wheelcover - check with wheel builder on incompatible bikes and tires. Having said that I used the wheel cover on my specialized comp with no rubbing except one time and it's not the no list.
