KT Tape Experience Use

I have been diagnosed with patellar tracking / patellofemoral syndrome where my kneecap does not track well and has caused close to a grade 4 deterioration on the outside of my kneecap. The rest of the kneecap has pretty good cartilage. I am wondering if anyone has experience relief with KT tape on this. Any uses or advice on that? My eventual longer term solution may have to be surgery to attach the patella more "inward" but trying to get by with some self-remedy solutions. Any ideas or anyone use it for this?

Having lived with a very similar problem (Severe/Grade 4 Osteoarthritis in the Patello-famoral compartment of the knee) for a couple of years now, IMO, taping or support in any form is a band-aid. Fundamental to helping is using a serious program (often 30-40 minutes 4-6x/week) of strength building to the smaller glute and hip muscles, as well as working on all four heads of the quadriceps. I'm not going to suggest any specific exercises, because some of them may or may not be right for you, if they were to put your knee at further risk. But seeing a sports MD, and/or a physical therapist who works a lot with weekend warriors, as distinct from aging or post surgical patients, is probably a worthwhile investment of time and $ to prevent/retard further deterioration.

Having said that, I do wear a band just below my knee cap when I run or sometimes bike:
