Monting Vittoria Open Corsa CX tires

I can't believe I have to ask this, but I can't get my new vittoria open corsa cx tires on my flashpoint 60's no matter what I try.  Any suggestions?  I know I'm not the only one on the team that uses these tires for races.  Any tricks?  I have vittoria latex tubes.  I hope I don't get a flat during the race - I don't even have the wheel cover on yet which will make it even harder.  Thanks

  •  Bob - Have you seen this current thread on a basically the same issue?

  • Al - Yes, I'd seen that, but didn't really see anything that helped. Maybe that's because the answer is just try harder until you get it. I tried leaving them in the sun, putting them in the dryer, and stretching them with a weight for a couple of hours. Not really sure if you're supposed to use tire irons to get the tires on. I never have had to do that in the last 45 years of mounting tires, but I'd sure like to get these on and have some confidence that I'd be able to get them changed if I had a flat during my race. My last RR is tomorrow, so I just put the michelin's back on and put on the wheel cover - I'll mess with the tires again next week.
  • Yeah Bob.  Those tires are a B**** to get on the Flashpoints.  I totally know what you're talking about.  They do loosen up after awhile though.  You can try putting your foot in them and stratching them a bit!!!
