"Question for a friend about IMAZ"
I have a friend who is a slow fat triathlete who we will refer to from now on as SFT.
So this SFT has gotten permission to sign up for IMAZ 2011 from his wife and family, what is the chances he will get in online at home. Thats if there SFT puts down his donut long enough to log on. Does IMAZ sell out as quick as the other races?
My SFT friend would also like to know what hotel would be good to stay at so he does not have to walk very far, unless there is a good hot dog place around.
Also if he was able to go there to sign up (which he knows is the best way but Novemeber is Thanksgiving Month and he likes to get an early jump on it) What are the lines like to sign up, are you pretty much going to get a spot if you go out there.
Any info you can give him would be great so he can concentrate on his eating.
Thanks

Since the race moved to November, the word has apparently gotten out that this is the PERFECT IM race. So it very quickly got very popular. Last year, I was there racing, but not sure if I wanted to go back. So I waited until Monday morning to sign up. I got in line about 9:30 AM, as I had to first attend to some other sign up business at 0900.
They closed the line soon after me, and I was one of the last people signing up at about 11 AM. They had a few slots still available, which opened up at 1100 MST on line, and went very quickly - not a lot of time to dawdle, as Paul says, and maybe not at all this year, if the growing popularity continues. The year before, it was MONTHS before it filled, for the April date.
For motels, in addition to the BW, there are a few others NORTH of the "lake", with easy access to the race venue. Also, consider that the new Metro has a stop right at the race site, and a motel anywhere along the line near a stop would be easy access as well.
