Augusta 70.3 In the Books
Augusta was 90+ degrees on Sunday. Ice in my jersey (atop 3 sponges) and under my hat helped. Met Mike and Max wearing EN kits in transition. Fitness was not great. Next race I must bring more to the start line. I want to improve. Any advice on how to keep feet dry during hot days when spectators shower the run course with water hoses and sprinklers of all sizes? Also, my nutrition was not bad. Had some GI issues that did not cause real discomfort, but would have in a full IM. I had gas and periodically belched. Is that a sign that I did something wrong with my nutrition? Key point, I did not feel weak due to calorie deficit. Heat was the issue, and it was managed as well as I could expect given the conditions.

@Frank Wilson Congrats on the finish.
Not much you can do about keeping the feet dry but if you are expecting rain or a wet course you can use some lubricant like body glide or petroleum jelly. If you don't wear socks this can go inside the shoe or have the jelly right inside the sock as you transition.
Nutrition - Can you outline what you were using for nutirion / calroies per hour? There is some nutrition guidance here http://members.endurancenation.us/Resources/Wiki/tabid/91/Default.aspx?topic=Race+Execution%2c+Half+Ironman
Congratulations Frank. Nailing nutrition in a hot race is tricky and mostly trial and error as it's rare to do a race rehearsal in those conditions. Sounds like you had enough calories but maybe the gut started to shut down due to more blood being diverted from the stomach to to skin to cool the body.
As far as wet shoes, I try to avoid the water sprays in the first half of the run, even if I have to yell No Thanks.
Congrats Frank!
