I would like to learn more about bike repair so that I don't have to take my bike to the shop every time a small thing happens.  Any suggestions on resources to help me learn about basic bike repair?  book? etc.

The two URL's above are my go-to sources. Love them! My other main resource is "Big Blue Book of Bicycle Repair" (by Park Too, written by C. Calvin Jones).

The links that were shared are great, but I have also found that just using the manuals works pretty good as well. Both SRAM and Shimano have the full instructions for all of there components available as PDFs on their website. Just find the model number of your derailers and the instructions will tell you everything you need to know about how to work on them.
