NOS Bike Thread Week 8 - all downhill from here!

So, this week will mark the survival of 2 full months of the Out Season. How are you feeling? Legs a bit sore or are you getting used to it?

This Tuesday the VO2 intervals get longer (and more painful)

Thursday, they are still 30 sec and 1 min but there are more of them.

Sat long ride or join in one of the Team rides that we have previously discussed.

I did this this morning because I knew Tuesday would be difficult. Overall, it was not bad. About this time every out season, I remember that being smooth is being powerful. It is easy to start shifting your weight from side to side to force those pedals to move but a rider is more efficient when they stay balanced and smoothly apply the power. Try it, it takes concentration but it makes a difference.

  • Great Tuesday morning effort, @Ralph Moore!

I got my ride on as well. So far so good!

  • 5 x 3' in the books on Tuesday. Didn't index up. Solid on the intervals but cut short the rest of the ride so I could get out and get the run in before traffic picked up for rush hour (fail).

  • So, Thursday 5 x 30 sec @450 then 5 x 1 min @ 405, done! Interesting Zwift FAIL though, if you note on the last interval, my power dropped to zero. As I was coming to the banner to finish the last interval, a popup dialog came up telling me that I had finished some Zwift challenge and my trainer became impossible to pedal. When the dialog disappeared after about 10 sec, I was able to pedal again. I am glad that did not happen during the middle of the workout or it could have caused me psychosocial trauma.

Had to get this one in early, On call and 32n't anniversary today. Lots going on. I plan on Hang on ride Sat and Cruise and crush Sunday. See you there, Go get 'em team.

  • Congrats on the 32nd. Many more.

  • Again, I attempted to hang on today with limited success. I have resisted weight doping for the hang on ride just because I had it in my mind that being able to hold on longer each session might lead to being to hold on and not get dropped. Last year, I could hang on for 30-45 min on a good day before I got dropped. This year it is the same. Clearly, I did not take into account that as I got stronger, the rest of the riders were getting stronger too. Next week, my new plan is to weight dope and try to hang on for the whole thing.

You can see by my power where I got dropped, caught a smaller group, and then got dropped for good.

    Cruise and Crush for tomorrow.
