How Could This Be?

I finished IM France on Jun 27.  Took one + weeks off with no cycling.  Just walking, a swim, and a couple of runs.  Yesterday, I went on my first bike with a local group expecting to go easy.  Well these guys started hammering.  My legs felt great so I kept up with them.  So, I looked at my power meter file at the end of my 90 min ride and my normalized power was 347, well above my 242 FTP.  Is that possible?

  • First thought is did you calibrate before the ride?

That would be a huge jump if its real, one way to see is go out and see if you can hold those numbers.

  • I am assuming you calibrated it / did the offset??
  • Is your PM still set on metric Watts, or have you changed it back to Imperial units since you got back to the US?

  •  Sorry but no its not possible if your FTP was really actually anywhere near 250 a couple of weeks ago for you to have ridden an hour and a half at 350.

  • George,

To piggyback on Chris...Even with 5000 iu of epo 3x/wk...that's not possible.

  • All,

Thanks for your help.  Resetting the Torque function did not work.  But, adding a bit of lube to the rear skewer fixed the problem.
