Peter Noyes COVID-19 Indoor Olympic Triathlon Race Report
COVID-19 Indoor Olympic Race Report
I woke up at 4:45am for a 5:30am start because I wanted the bike leg to be Friday Freight Train. I pooped and then made coffee and a bagel with vegan cream cheese. I drank a 140 calorie bottle of regular Gatorade as well.
I prepared 2 towels, a bottle of Gatorade GE and a pack of matcha green tea skratch chews. At around 5:25am I stripped to my underwear, laid a towel down on the vasa so my nipples wouldn’t chafe, and started swimming.
I felt surprisingly good and my watts were higher than expected. I powered through for a time of 25:23 which is 1:32/100yd.

I then changed into a cycling bib and waited a long 7 minutes for FFT to start as I underestimated my swim time. At 6am FFT got going and I went off the front and clumped up in around 50th place (out of 285) and stayed there for the first 25% of the race. This spot ended up being a little too spicy so I dropped back and found a better group around 80th place which included KMF Man, Teri Cashmore and Carl. The banter on discord was pretty vulgar as expected since Steve, Francis and Myself were all on the call. Francis rode a mountain bike for some reason. Even Jorge was pretty #wrongchat. I just stayed in the zone and finished with a solid 204 watt average which is a 2020 60 minute power record! Bike split was 1:00:17.

I then transitioned to the run by restarting Zwift, pairing my Stryd, putting my running shoes on, and loading up the end of the movie 6UNDERGROUND which I started yesterday. I kind of sandbagged the run because I was in 1st place already and I didn’t want to risk tomorrow’s workouts by running too hard today. I increased the pace every mile and finished the last mile sub 7:30 with an overall average pace of 7:55 for a 48:51 finish.

Overall I came in 1st place with a time of 2:29 but that includes a terrible 7 minute T1 and a sandbagged run so I believe I could be closer to 2:20. All in all it was pretty fun and a good practice for COVID19MAN coming up.

Such a strong effort @Peter Noyes. I feel so privileged that I was able to be somewhat close to you for a small part of this huge effort. Your consistent work is part of what keeps me motivated. Watching COVID19MAN will likely be one the most transforming times in my life.
@Peter Noyes That's some great self motivation! Very impressive. Congratulations on your podium. 😂
Obviously this was a draft legal triathlon? Nice work on the race and RDing the Covidman 19.
#insipiration
This deserves international recognition.
And it proves the axiom, "The separation is in the preparation."
#inspiration, where are the details on Covidman?

pretty cool @Peter Noyes
wish I was into all that online shit. All I want to do it go outside and run or ride. If I can't I'm not interested.
This sounded fun though-
