In a season when races are disappearing faster than you on your time trial bike, we as athletes need to seek other opportunities for growth. If we don't have a standardized means of testing our speed against the competition, it makes sense to turn some of our focus inwards and begin challenging ourselves. This doesn't mean doing an actual race in the conventional sense, but it does mean breaking through some of the mental and physical limits that we have come to accept overtime.

A large part of our ultra focus for the month of May is encouraging you to move beyond your status quo. For years our focus has been on ROI — return on investment — making sure that all of your workout time has had a purpose and yields results.

No races on the calendar means we can slow things down, we can dive a little more deeply into challenges that might otherwise have eluded us. After all, we don't have the typical constraints that we would face in terms of building our fitness, peeking for a raise and recovering.

Instead of backing off the gas, I encourage you to find challenges that will help you grow physically and mentally so that you are twice as strong when we get to race again. You could join our UltraMay challenge (https://endurancenation.us16.list-manage.com/track/click?u=54dc221df5218e0dafff46b51&id=e7968f814e&e=443f1a9157) , for example. 🤣
