Coach P Update...
Hey everyone, Coach Patrick here. I wanted to give you a quick update on my recovery.
It occurred to me today that I really haven't kept you posted on where I am physically. I've done a lot of writing in my blog about where I am emotionally / mentally, and what my perspective is, but I haven't really shared where I am physically.
It's been about eight weeks now since the accident, and I am doing great! I am not running -- I can't do that for a couple more weeks -- and I haven't tried swimming yet: the shoulder's still a little tight. But I am able to ride my bike. I put in over 100 miles last week, and while I used to ride at 21, 22 miles an hour, I'm riding at 19 right now, which is nothing to shake a stick at!
Overall, pretty happy. My physical therapist has me on a pretty crazy regimen, and I can definitely tell that my left side is a lot weaker than my right. I've got a lot of work to do before I can come back fully. But otherwise, I am all systems go -- chasing the kids, carrying the kids, doing the chores around the house, doing the yard work. It's awesome.
I really appreciate everyone who's sent me positive vibes, everything from food to books to shoes (please, stop!!!). You guys are rock stars and your support has meant the world to me.
The only think I have to ask now is that if you have anything left, please direct it to the people now who really need it: Keith & Linda Patch as well as Tom Glynn.
Thank you for all you have given me. I am 100% sure that I would not be where I am today if it were not for your support.
Have a great weekend, folks, and take it easy on any super tired doode trying to hang on your rear wheel. Might just be me.

What Gina said! So glad you piped in as I was gonna ping you and ask for an update. Glad things are progressing. God's speed.
Thank you! Good to know you are doing well!
P, that is great to hear.
You will be rockin it before you know, and maybe just in time to sign up for IMAZ 2011 as I know this guy who has a friend whos brothers uncle is thinking about doing it
Glad to hear that you are on the mend! Remember, Whiteface TT next saturday
Dude, I can't believe it's been 8 weeks since I discovered you sitting against the guardrail on that rainy day. You've come a long way since then. Very happy for you.
Dave
Are you driving yet? I've been told no driving for up to 6 weeks, which is now probably the hardest thing I need to get through. Loss of independence is a pretty big thing I'm finding out.
Understand you are using water therapy for hip recovery. How soon after the accident did you begin? Is it mostly with a therapist or on your own?
Is the lack of swimming a collar bone issue or combo hip and shoulder issue?
I've been digging through old posts for info and inspiration. Keep the updates coming!
Tom
Great job with the recovery. Keep it up and you will be back to full speed in no time.
Oh yes, at 19MPH I'd still have to hang on your wheel if it was for anthing more than an FTP test.

Your doing so well, way to go Patrick !!
