How to get additional carbo/awards tickets
So I am heading off to Penticton in a few weeks and just realized that I am short at least 1 if not 2 tickets for the both the carbo load and awards. I emailed NAS on the weekend but they have not responded so I was wondering if anyone out there has gone through this process and what the steps are?
I checked my reciept from active and there is no indication if I paid for 1 additional carbo/awards ticket and thus the added confusion. So I'll just suck it up and ensure that I have two tickets, one for my wife and mom along with the athlete ticket for me.
If this is not possible I guess we will have to skip the events and go elsewhere. As this is only my 2nd IM I kind of want to hit these events but its not essential by any means.
Thanks
Gordon

At IMWI, they had separate rooms for the dinner presentation thing and you could watch everything for free and bring as many people as you wanted.
For the awards banquet they only had one room, so they let Theresa and I in for free, however they would not let us in until the actual presentation started and told us we that Theresa was not allowed to eat since she didn't buy a ticket.
Of course they don't advertise this as they want people to pay to feed all of their family and friends.
Personally, I have only ate at one of those events once and don't plan on ever doing it again. I do hope to have to attend some more of them one day though!
General guidance is that if this is your first Ironman, or the first for your family, go to the dinner. It's part of the experience and they will be more than happy to take your money at the door for the privledge, chicken and cold pasta . Same with the awards banquet, if it fits in with your travel plans.
After you've done a few though...I don't go.
That said, at IMCDA we planned to all go in together as a team but I boogered it by having everyone get there kinda late. I talked my way in though without paying and then podcasted the rules brief from JimmyR and then threw it out minutes later via Cinch (podcasting app for iPhone) and Twitter. Would be supagroovy if that became standard team practice, with one taking the bullet for all of us
