Bar Tape- what do you like?

I need to order bar tape for Fiona.  I want something with lots of "cush" in it.  I actually like the tape that's on there right now (borrowed from a friend who had leftover stuff- so I don't know the brand) but it's getting pretty worn and torn.  I've seen prices ranging from $10-$40 for bar tape- YIKES!  Is the high end stuff really worth the price?

  • I just put a watermelon pink bar tape (Bontrager) on my wife's bike a week ago and she said it was much more comfortable than the previous stuff (Specialized). You can put gel under any bar tape to increase the 'cush' though. The Bontrager tape was $16 and I got it for $10 with a lot of other cheap supplies at a Trek dealer when they had the big sale for the final days of the TDF.
  • I like the Bontrager too.

  • Lizardskin I think is what it's called. Excellent grip even wet...not the cushiest though.

  • I use fizik as the white makes my saddle perfectly and it wipes clean and does not change color.
  • x2 with Matt, Fizik white. Mine has been on for a year and needs to be reaplaced because the white is not so white any more. I have to say, it was worth the extra buck or two, becasue it hasn't ripped or torn like traditional cork tape.
  • I was just reading the latest issue of Men's Journal Magazine (take that for as many grains of salt as you like) and they spoke very highly of the Arundel Gechko Grip bar tape ( www.arundelbike.com&#160image.

  • I like Bontrager too.
