Eagleman 2011 (HIM & AV) - registration now open

Hi ya... for those of you mid-Atlantic folks (or others) who are looking for an early season Kona/Clearwater qualifier or just looking for a sea nettle stinging swim, boring and windy bike, and hot as heck run... the Black Water Reserve in Cambridge, MD is calling you...

Eagleman just opened.  It will sell out quickly... so get on it (and get a hotel room ASAP - those go pretty darn fast, too... if you can't get one in Cambridge, I'd recommend Easton - only about 15 minutes away).  I'll be there... 3rd time's the charm, right?

  • Unfortunately(?), I am gonna have to pass this year as it is just too close to IM CDA. Oh well, I can always just put a bike and treadmill in a steam room to simulate EM! Maybe 2012!
  • Thanks for the reminder! Just signed up.

I don't know Tucker, the last few years it seems like odd years are at least decent (2007 was phenomenal and 2009 was pretty good until the run I think) at EM while even years are brutal (2008 was outrageous and 2010 was only slightly better.)

  • Why does he always open registration for this race so freakin early? I haven't given my 2011 season much thought beyond TOC in May and have lots of fun with no IM's otherwise. I can't wrap my head around registering for much of anything right now!
  • @Tucker - LoL... that would be about right as far as race simulation goes!

@Tony - I didn't do 07, but 09 was GREAT until the run IMHO... and well 2010 rivaled 2008 as far as pain and agony goes...but, yet, I'm in again... this time staying at the Hyatt... for some swank.  Decided to stay Sunday night for some quality pool side R&R followed by smores at the firepit!

Come on Nemo... it'll be fun.  Shockingly, I've got 2011 figured out... Columbia in May, EM in June, IMWI in Sept, Philly marathon in Nov.  Granted, I've only registered for 1 of these races so far... am optimistic I'll get into Columbia and the marathon... hoping WI works out!

  • @Becky, you should have no problems getting into the Philly Marathon next year. I signed up this year like 2-3 weeks ago so provided you don't wait till October you should be all good.
  • I am in for this race again. I was thinking the same thing as Tony, odd years seem to have better weather!
  • Hmmm ... if I go for third year in a row and register for E-man, there's no way I can think about secretly registering for CdA. I had a good race in 2009 and I'd rather not try to remember 2010. I really want to do well at this race one day.
  • @Cary, you're not the only one... it's so dependent on the darn weather, though.... I'm in again - hope you'll come down!  I hear that the weather is better ever third year...

  • @Cary - This is not the race you are looking for. You need to go to Idaho for an Ironman.

See I am Jedi mind tricking you there.

  • no, no, no, Cary... Tucker has it all wrong!  Do EM as a warm up to IMWI next year.    The timing is perfect!

  • Hmmmm ... IM CdA or IMOO ... Leaning towards CdA ...
  •  come on Cary... IMMOO next year is gonna be super duper sweet like this year... chica sherpas in bikinis at mile 18, coach may come out of retirement... it will be a par-tay!

  • @Cary: I agree with Tucker. Idaho is the place for you. Looks like a strong East Coast contingent will be showing up.

  • I'm in for Eagleman - if my IT Band decides to co-operate!   My first EN OS should be interesting preparation!

  • @Ian - great... and don't worry OS will definitely get you ready!  In fact, I dropped out of OS a tad early (after 14 weeks - got a late start due to injury) and picked up in week 6 of 12 of the HIM plan to prep for the race and had no problem at all with the volume for training or with race execution... OS is hard core.  Trust it, it works!

  • Sorry Becky - I'm with Tucker and am in for IMCDA. Did have fun last year in the heat - at least will be partly ready if Idaho is hot.

Stayed at the Hyatt last year - definitely agree that you should stay Sunday night. Didn't do it last year and really regretted it on the 4 hour drive home. Have Fun.
