Front Race Wheelopinion

OK, I need some help/inout from the folks in the house.  I'm looking at a new front race wheel.  I'm trying to decide if I should get a Hed H3 or something in the 80 or 90mm deoth.  It's be a clincher in case that matters.  I'm right around 5' 8" and run around 160 right now and am trying to get down to at least 155 if not a bit lighter for race weight.  This years A race is Branson 70.3 and next year will be IMWI.  I live in teh midwest and most of our courses are flat and fast.  Any an all opinions appreciated.

  • Dave,

The Hed H3 acts like an 808 aerodynmically but is harder to find in good condition used as a clincher. You will occasionally find them on ebay but I would buy it new as you do want the H3 round and true or you will feel it hop or pulse with braking. It is also supposed to be a better wheel in the wind than something with 80+mm depth unless you have zero wind conditions and ride Lieto-speed.
