Tens unit to help Muscle soreness?

I was cleaning out my closet and found my TENS UNIT. Prior to my back surgeries, the PT got me one to help deal with the pain and mucsle soreness I was dealing with.  This really helped me manage the pain I had in my lower back and glutes. I was thinking, can I use the TENS unit to help my sore muscles recover quicker? My gut says no, but thats why I am turning to you for the HEAD answer. Just asking... Thanks guys/gals!!

  • The TENS units work on pain pathways with nerve endings and muscle receptors so with an injury those structures would be very active making the unit great to calm them down. Not sure how they would work with DOMS (delayed muscle soreness or the like) since its more soreness/stiffness than actual pain. image
