Need help: what to stock in club tent at race?

Our new tri club is hosting a tent for the first time at a race this weekend.  We are expecting about 6-10 athletes and maybe 20-30 family, friends and fellow travelers.

We have a 10x10 shade shelter, and will not have access to electricity.  That being said, what do you recommend we have by way of food and drink for our athletes and guests?  What would make this more enjoyable and inviting for them?

Right now, our plan:

Pre-Race: water, coffee, juice, bagels, donut holes

Post-Race: same as above, plus fruit, soda, beer (shhhh).

What other food do you think would be good, that does not require either a ton of money or labor?  I think a grill would be nice, but frankly it's a HUGE POA to get it there, set up, and haul away (not to mention it might give the RD a stroke if anything weird happened).

All constructive ideas most welcome!

Paul

  • for afterwards= salty snacks are always appreciated (potato chips, tortilla chips, pretzles, etc). And invite the family members to bring baked goods to share. Home made cookies after a race are always appreciated :-)
