Is the Vivarin to counter act the sleepiness of the Benadryl?
No- but that's not a bad idea either. I take Vivarin at about mile 70 on the bike. I'm a caffeine addict, but I can't tolerate a lot of coffee before the race (upsets the tummy too much when I'm nervous). The Vivarin helps keep the withdrawl headache at bay and it also helps me to stay alert during those final miles of the bike when it becomes hard to just stay focused.

Just because you're paranoid doesn't mean you're not going get every stomach ailment known to man.
