Thanks P! Didn't think there would be much you could do with the crazy file! I've changed the batteries and put a new coat of grease on the seal in hopes of fixing the problem. So far so good :-)
Thanks for the insight. Apologies for the lack of a description. Funnily enough at a power workshop in Richmond earlier this year with Hunter Allen he reviewed one of my files and said the same thing. I guess it takes a long time for this old geezer to grasp important facts! Lesson learned - finally.
This was in fact my RR for Muskoka 70.3 on September 12th. Very useful feedback for race day.
Listened to your crucible for Michele RR. You commented on her lower cadence. What cadence do u think we should be riding in? I have not really paid much attention to cadence, only watts. My cadence was 75 avg last weekend for RR on the WI course. What r your thoughts?
Kathy- Just listened to the crucible. My low cadence was definitely more of a hill factor and I am not sure that I can change that for Madison. If I want to keep the watts low, I need to get low cadence on the steep sections. I spin up higher on the flats and descents. Also, the last 25 minutes of the RR where I cut back was on purpose. I thought we were supposed to shut it down and coast in to T2 rather than spin it up to get done faster. I am quite surprised at the compliments and hope to execute the same on race day.
Makes sense Michele to have low cadence on the hills...same thing happens to me...nature of the beast. I think I need to remember to not mash it on the flats. I think u are right in cutting back at the end...anyhow just do what u just did on the RR on race day and you will have a great day on that course!
in my experience, the average cadence in a file or on he monitor isn't very accurate (realistic?) because any coasting will drop your average cadence down quite a bit, compared to how you normally ride. I think it's more accurate to just look down and see what you are spinning when you feel most comfortable. Then watch how it changes and what cadences you tend to gravitate to in different riding situations.
