MI State Crit Champs

I ended my 'road' season yesterday at MI State crit champs which run through the streets of my little town.

The season has been basically a bust and I was hoping to end on a high note. The MTB crash in June really ended my season as I never really got it back going again.

These series of pictures sums up my season pretty well.

The calm before the storm.

Settling down after I lead the first lap trying to shake off the dead wood.

Hammering the start finish line with the eventual winner on my wheel.

It was hard. The race ended in a field sprint and while I contested it I ended up 15th.

Now I'm looking forward to cross season and mountain bike racing oh yeah and a marathon on Oct 17th.

  • Dan, I'd stand on the podium next to you any day! :-) Just so happy to see you riding again and having some fun. Hugs!
  • Nice job, Dan.  Way to end a tough season on a good note.  Onto cross!

  • Dan: So so happy to see you are literally back in the saddle again!
So what mtb adventures are you planning for next year? I'm thinking Mohican 100 and/or Wilderness 101. Wanna come join me? image

Yes! It's definitely time to start thinking about 'cross. I'm itching to start riding dirt too!
  • Awesome pictures, and hoping you have a great cross season.

  • Nice job Dan! Way to finish out the season strong in spite of the challenges that were thrown your way! Now focus on that marathon (see you there)...
  • Love the pics, Dan. Cycling? Marathon? Maybe in Ironman fashion, it will be good for your marathon to feel like you want to throw away the road bike for awhile (even though it is so pretty).
  • Thanks. Yeah, what I failed to mention is that the guy in the Bissell kit (who won) was 4th at Masters Nationals a few weeks back. At 40 the guy is still one of the fastest guys around. While I didn't win (not my job anyhow) we did put one our guys on the Podium. (2nd place) so good day for the team.

@Kitima Lumberjack 100 for sure. Mohican possibly or the Cohutta in April. Who knows maybe all 3

The marathon will be fun. Soigneur is sponsoring the event so they comp'd me an entry. I've been running 5x a week and I'm starting to feel pretty good about it. Don't think there is an IM in my future though. However never say never.

Not that cross is any easier than road racing but it sure is fun to play in the mud!

    I'm in!

Dan - glad to see you back and riding again.  I just bought a cross bike and am looking forward to giving cross season a shot this year.
