12 weeks post surgey and my FTP is back where it belongs, I think.

So every Thursday I have been roadie riding from our local bike shop with a group of guys. The past 3 weeks I have been getting dropped often, but not tonight. Here are the digits:

Entire workout:

    Duration:                1:38:54

    Work:                     1312 kJ

    TSS:                       186.5 (intensity factor 1.064)

    Norm Power:          236

    VI:                           1.07

    Distance:               30.236 mi

                                   Min      Max     Avg

    Power:                    1          821      221      watts

    Heart Rate:            96        168      149      bpm

    Cadence:               30        231      99        rpm

    Speed:                    0          33.7     19.2     mph

So I looked for the 40min max (which was the second half of the ride) and this is what I found:

Duration:             40:08

    Work:                     563 kJ

    TSS:                       77.3 (intensity factor 1.075)

    Norm Power:          240

    VI:                           1.02

    Distance:               12.235 mi

                                   Min      Max     Avg

    Power:                    1          821      234      watts

    Heart Rate:            101      168      153      bpm

    Cadence:               48        177      100      rpm

    Speed:                    0.6       32.6     18.4     mph

Is it safe to assume that my FTP is now 240? Is that correct?

Comments

  • I think it would actually be closer to whatever the 60 min max number is. The 40 min is assuming you are doing a 2x20 test. But you rode long enough you should have a 60min number. What does that say?

PS- Super cool Noodle, so glad to see ya back!
  • yes sir. welcome back!
  • Nice Work... it's great to hear you are getting the fitness back so quickly!

I am a big believer in only using an FTT or the WKO charts to determine FTP, however that workout definitely shows you are on track and should expect a good bump from whatever you are at right now.
  • Noodle, forget the 40 min max. You just averaged 236 for 99 minutes at a low VI. FTP is definitely 240, or north of that.

    Welcome back!
