measuring improvements
last week was testing week for me in the beginner IM training program for ironman AZ. I am a newcomer to the haus, so I only have one test set before last week. I realize that improvements are probably widely varied, but I was wondering if there was anything we should be "expecting" or any time frame that we should see improvements in and by how much. It seems that maybe I technically improved an itty bitty bit (a few seconds here and there) but nothing too drastic. Should it have been? Ultimately I feel good about my training so far, and have been able to handle the plan pretty well (much to my surprise!). I think I will improve, but just haven't seen anything major yet...

Julia, what numbers did you actually see from the tests?
My swim T-pace went down two seconds, from 1:55 to 1:53. My bike HR went from 168 to 166 (speed from 20mph to 20.1, distance 13.37 mi up to 13.4, and the first test was 40:04 with the second exactly 40:00). Run went from 6:58 to 6:56, but HR on the run went from 178 up to 181.
forgot to mention also that the run vdot went from 45 up to 46.
