Bike power taking a hit

I'm assuming since I have been upping my running, this is the reason why.  I have 2 bad knees now and have been holding back on the running some most of the season to maybe 2 sessions on the track until about 3 weeks ago where now I am following my HIM plan and it has more running especially longer times.  I'm finding it hard to stay consistent with my power numbers on the bike especially on the flats.  Is running the culprit?  Thanks everyone.

  • Running absolutely could be the culprit, but if you are talking 10-20W I wouldn't sweat it...should come back via a good taper. Another, bigger option, could be the fact that it's september and you've been drilling it since (Jan? Dec?) and your body is pooped...good to keep that macro perspective in mind!

  •  Yes, I need to race!  Thanks.  Run feels good though.  I had a nice workout for 90' last night.  I wish I started tris 10 years ago when I wasn't broken!!!

  • You can still be fast as a runner without tons of running. Look into running technique and form; I know 45 year old guys running 3:00 IM marathons on 20-30 miles of running a week as they can't handle any more (yes, they have been running a long time, but still)....
