Vacation!

Alright everyone, to both a) let you know I didn't fall off the face of the earth, and b) rub it in, I just wanted to let y'all know, I'm going on vacation for a week - to Belize.

More specifically, here: www.travelbelize.org/destinations/d...-caye.html. This is where I'm staying: www.cayemanagement.com/south1.html

So I won't be reading the forums, chatting you all up about race reports, rehearsals, training, etc.  I should at least be swimming and running, in between potential rain (50-60% chance all next week) and the eating and drinking that I'm sure will be occuring out on the beach (apologies in advance to my nutritionist - and my waistline).

Jealous/envious yet? And, no, there's no more stowaway room in my luggage, sorry.

I'm sure it'll take me a good week to catch up once I'm back. Hope you have a good week without me!!

  • Enjoy Scott! We'll keep the lights on for ya!
  • Pics or it didn't happen!
  • THat looks absolutely horrible, wouldn't you rather spend time on the trainer looking at the wall of your pain cave?

    Enjoy!
  • Now Scott, if you were a tried and true AKL Brother, you'd at least let me carry your luggage!       Have a safe trip...and jealous?  HELL YES!

  • I know exactly where this place is. Looks pretty nice from the beach. (San Pedro isn't so big) Enjoy. I am jealous. We will definitely need a review (RR of sorts) of this property when you return. Have a frozen girlie drink for me just to the North at Ramon's Beach Resort
  • Oooh and borrow/rent a beater beach bike and ride up and down the little sand trail to explore. We had a blast doing that when we were there. We'd ride to the Palapa Bar for drinks, stopping along the way for DH to scare away the bone fish with his fly rod. Ha ha.

If you get the chance to ever stay in-land in the jungle. Highly recommend Hidden Valley Inn. Awesome exploring and great food...

Can't wait to see pics when you're back!
  • x2 on the Palapa bar pretty cool, owned by a retired firefighter.
  • Just got back to Dallas last night.

The very FIRST night there, had a few cocktails, ended up slipping on the pool deck of our neighboring house (we had two houses, with 24 people between them)...and wait for it...broke some ribs (or at least I think I did, i'm going to get some x-rays ASAP). But it's been a week since, and it still hurts to breath heavy, move, sleep, lift - pretty much anything and everything.

So, didn't get a chance to run or swim like I had planned. But did do a lot of pool floating, some golf cart driving, lots more beverages, cave tubing and ziplining (yes, even with the ribs - prob not a good idea), and did I mention some frosty beverages?!?

I think the injury ended my 2010 race season. Other people that have had similar injuries have been out 5-6 weeks at least, so I've pretty much come to grips with it - especially given the particularly crappy year I've had. I'm just waiting for 2010 to be over at this point.

But, here are some pictures if you have a snapfish account (they're also on my FB page)... www1.snapfish.com/snapfish/thumbnai...=snapfish/

Most of the group in the pictures was the eight folks from the smaller house we stayed in.
