  • The dude from Infinit, is it Kevin?, stopped by and talked for a few minutes during the IMWI 4-keys talk and dropped that they were getting booted from the expos.

    Totally lame.

  • WTC and $$$. Nuff said.
  • Nothing like locking out the competition! I'm ordering more Infinit for my running!
  • Since RnP are banned from the expo, maybe they can team up for a new off-site expo with an anti-WTC lean?!?

  • That sucks! But, people know about them. Sounds like there needs to be an off-the-grid non-IM, "long course" expo at each event with those who have been banned from the expo or site.
  • Michael Folan is the guy that owns infinit, nice guy, reminds me that I need to order.

I have been surprised that infinit was allowed at the expo for a while now.  Makes perfect sense that the big money sponsor would demand that they are exclusive in the expo areas.  The "expo" at an IM is a freakin joke, anyhow.  It is more like 5 sponsor booths.  How would you like to pay big money to be the official whatever of whatever event and then find out that they are also selling space to a competitor at a small fraction of the price.  As an alternative, At LP every year there is a kinda outlaw expo across the street from the oval in front of high peaks cyclery.  Usually, Polar, Nineteen wetsuits, Guru and some others.

  • Yeah, I'm with Chris. I think "banned" is a little strong, maybe pushed out by someone with more money.

The ST thread is a gold mine of great marketing ideas. PnI will talk about many of these.

We have our own WTC@IMWIvsEN story to share and we'll do that with you shortly. We have a ton going on today.

I totally agree. WTC Ironman is, first and foremost, a business. They have to take care of their business interests and partners. I understand it. I just think they could handle things a bit better.

The 'Find yourself a pretzel machine' post has had me laughing for two days.

  • X2 for EN pretzel machine.

In all seriousness WTC has always fought hard to protect their trademarks. Now that they are part of Providence Equity Partners not only will they fight for the trademarks, but they will be under extreme earning pressure too. Which means they will take on more organizations who are former allies They will have access to more lawyers than you can shake a stick at. You know how that will end--they will start suing for tattoo trademark infringement!
  • Infinit is offering AirLift services to IM races now. You order a few weeks before the race and they personally deliver whatever you need (including custom mixes) to your hotel on race week.

Michael has helped me out before and I've been so pleased with there product I just order a bag of my custom mix for Kona that they will be delivering to my condo on Monday of race week.

I didn't need another bag yet, but I wanted to help them out and use there new service.
