Thank You!
Hi Rich and Patrick - I've been wanting to thank you for all your help at IMWI. I have been getting your emails for about 2 years now. I train with Mike Ricci and D3 (I love having group workouts in Boulder) but have found your information a great supplement. Because of your advice, I bought a power meter for this race and trained with it and learned how to use it. I went to your 4 Keys talk and got my head screwed on right.
IMWI was my first Ironman and I really felt like my execution was spot on. I kept my power down on the hills and even though I think I *could* have gone 15 minutes faster, I think I rode my Should bike leg. While my run did slow down a little (7 seconds slower per mile 2nd split compared to 4th) I made my goal of running (jogging/shuffling) most of the way. I loved seeing you at miles 5, 8, 18 but especially 21 when I had a couple of extra walk breaks. After mile 21 I went back to my plan of only walking the aid stations and I finished strong.
I will continuing reading all your great articles and advice. Thanks for all the help!
