Layout Question About Advanced IM 5 month Plan
Hello,
I'm not sure if this is where I should be asking this question or not, but here goes. I've been using the 5 month Advanced IM plan in preparation for IM AZ in Novemeber. So far so good, but I have a questions about the layout of a typically week for the plan. Normally there are 2 long rides on the weekend. I can see why this is the case and it makes sense from a free time standpoint to have the long rides on the weekend. However, I have some flexibility with my job and can usually fit a long ride in during a regular week. With that said, do you think it would be better to do one of the longer rides during the week and then do the other long ride as well as my long run on the weekend? For example just switching one of the long rides to Thursday and moving the long run to Sunday. If this is doable for the athlete, I feel like it makes more sense. However, I'd love to get some thoughts on this.
Thanks in advance.

Great question...and this is the perfect place to ask it. If you have that time flexibility, you can absolutely move that ride around, you just need to be aware of what that means for the rest of your week. The typical switch is moving Sunday's ride to Thursday AM...take friday off hard (or light swimming), Sat ride+Run, Sunday long run. That affords you more time on Sunday to do stuff other than train (gasp!). This switch makes Monday/Wed swims (or all early week swims) pretty important as you might want/need to bag a friday to fully recover.
Keep up the good questions!!
