Anyone besides Kris is welcome in Chattanooga for 3State3Mountain Challenge, May 7,2011

This is a GREAT century- cheap price, super well supported and challenging/scenic route.  Would highly recommend to everyone!!

  • I'd be with you ladies in Tenn if TOC wasn't right around the corner from that event. Really sounds like beautiful riding!
  • Ooo. lots of plans, lots of plans. image

As for the NE navigation problems. totally agree. LP sucks to get to. It's a 4.5 hour drive for us from Boston. Timberman is much easier. 90 min north of Beantowne or 45 min from Manchester airport.

So far here are my plans in '11:
    1) Boston marathon in April. This is the head to head tie-breaker of ALL tie-breakers with my father in law. must.destroy.him. muahahahaha.
    2) ToC
    3) Musselman
    4) LP cheer/play
    5) Timberman
    6) IMFL

This sounds really fun, and fits right into my 2011 scheduled big bike week before I transition into my HIM plan for Muncie.  Might have to go for it, definitely let us know when you guys sign up image

  • OMG - so many fun things in the works... and I'm just out of sync with your schedules... but glad many of you will be back in WI next year for support!  My 2011 is looking like this:

Mar:  National Half mary and/or Shamrock Half mary

Apri:  Cherry Blossom 10 miler OR GW Parkway Classic 10 miler (if I don't get in to Cherry Blossom)

    May:  Columbia OLY (registered)

    June:  Eagleman HIM (registered)

July/Aug: train, train, train, sweat, sweat, sweat

    Sept:  IMWI (registered)

    Oct:  maybe Army 10 miler

    Nov:  Philly marathon

    Dec:  NOTHING!

2012:  I told Dan that would be an IM-free year... odds are that will hold bc my A+ race will be the NYC marathon in early November (after 3 years of trying, I'll be guaranteed in if I don't get in in 2011 - if I do get in, in 2011 I'll defer).  I'm pondering a few HIMs... possibly Kinetic in May (but not sure if I'd be ready - likely not starting OS til Jan again bc of the Nov marathon).  I would like to do Musselman.  I've heard good things and Dan has a friend who lives nearby.  I'd also like to go back to do Timberman again, I thought that was fun... but that's a lot of driving in a span of a month, we'll see... if you ladies are doing a group HIM (not likely if you're planning a 2012 Placid reunion), I'd be game to join you...

  • Hellllooooo!

If I pull the trigger I am down for my same schedule as last year: Mooseman and IMKY. I have come to terms with the idea that there will prob be no chica takers for IMKY (anyone, anyone??) but the race works for my schedule, and frankly it can't get much hotter than this year. I was pleasantly surprised by my reaction to heat and see lots of places to improve. I also don't have to commit right away.

However - veerryyy interested in IMLP rally, IMLP volunteering, and hopefully sherpa gig at Timberman! Could be a very fun-filled year.

    Hoping to start Nov OS..

  • Ya know Aimee, Wisconsin is just a few weeks after Lou and there will be LOTs of Chicas there :-) Just sayin!
  • Nemo, has anyone made 2011 hotel reservations yet? For IMWI?

Nemo, has anyone made 2011 hotel reservations yet? For IMWI?

    One vote for Clarion!!

  • Kathy and I love the Clarion. I just checked and it appears they still have some rooms available. What are everyone else's thoughts? They have such a nice are where we could congregate if we wanted.
  • Honestly haven't thought that far. Clarion was nice. I'm gonna be going on the super cheap. Fly in- share a room with someone (hint hint- anyone need a roomie? I'd sleep on a roll-a-way!) and bum rides from you local gals that will have cars.
  • K. Here's a cheap alternative and Nemo, I'll have a vehicle so I can give ya rides. There is a hotel that Kathy and I stayed in last year and it was 70/night or cheaper. It's a Super 8, I think. Nothing great but clean and ok. Not that far from the race site and if we got down to the race early we wouldn't have problems getting a parking space. Let me know. Kathy, if you read this, let me know. I did just make a res at the Clarion but it is pretty spendy. Here is another option: http://www.vrbo.com/206483 If several of us stay together, this might be an option.

My guess is the nights of Ironman will be the highest rate but if we had 9 people there (my daughter and I will be two, if Kathy would be ok with this, that would be three, Nemo you are four so we are nearly halfway there) the rate would be less than 100/night.  Ya'll all chime in and let me know.  I'm willing to pony up the deposit, but I would need pretty firm commitment from at least 7 or 8 people.  We can look at other houses too.

  • well I am way behind: okay like Kathy says with DH aproval and $$$...

October 2010: start OS, see how gimped I am from IMWI, maybe I won't be. continue mt biking racing and ease my run back while starting the bike.

November 2010: mt biking racing and more OS

    December: OS

2011: must get faster swimming, if I had the guts/nerve to learn how to dive, I would join a master's swim group and participate in those races ... that is how desperate I am to be faster!!!! lol. so I will continue swimming.

January, do some free local Winter Series races (running), might join a running club and go back to my running races as it has been since 08. miss it.

February: one of my least fav months!! finish Oct OS. my run speed has really been down and I miss it. tired of injuries preventing me from racing.

March: Little Rock, 1/2 marathon, would be my test of OS fitness plus local race so fun. so by here, I want my run mojo!!!!

Tour De cure, local century. Spring Break.

April: heavy month of training . first tri in state here.

May: wetsuit swim in lakes, warm weather sets in. IMTX 21 May,  Chattanooga would be 2 weeks before which might be too close??  the last two IMs I have been tired during race day so I would prolly say no to this.

June: Fam vacay. Recover. mt biking, time trial whatever

    July: same as June

August: son graduates college, at end start IM tng,

    September: BDB 100 (local century)

Sherpa WI????? well I don't leave home too much so we will see. yes on cheap! I would bring my tri bike

October: Local century rides, heavy month of training. just like April, lakes too cold to swim in but perfect run/bike weather. I just don't know if that Bourbon chase would fit in here. so I can't commit .

    November: IMAZ

  • Re: Wisconsin lodging. In 2009 when I went up to volunteer and sign up for 2010 I stayed at the Super 8 on Hwy 12/18 (Beltline Hwy) and had no trouble getting a room about a month before the race. I also stayed there for Moo camp, as it was I think about $50-60 a night. It's cheap, clean, and has free breakfast image I would highly recommend it.
  • Sheryl,

The super 8 would work...cheaper is better...especially since we are not racing :&#160image  The house might work...wonder what the miminmum night stay is?  Are we thinking Friday-Monday ( 3 nights instead of 4 ?)  That is kind of what im thinking...might be a stretch for me to take 4 this time around with MCM the next month.  I like the idea of $50-70 bucks per night instead of $100 or more :&#160image  Oh and this is my last day on the forum until Dec 1   I can always talk to ya via text or phone Lemme know what the other chica's wanna do.

  • Let me ask the Madison folks about house.

  • Kathy- we'll miss ya here, but we'll keep in touch on FB!

Love these ideas to keep the cost down. For race week I was more picky- but for Sherpa duty I know I'll be eating at the wonderful Madison restaurants a lot and I'd rather spend a little cash there vs finding a hotel with a kitchen. Then again- a full kitchen in a house where we could cook together might be fun :-)

My plans are to arrive Friday and leave on Monday.  Will absolutely bring my road bike to ride the course on Saturday!

  • K. Y'all let me know which option you prefer. If we get hotels, I assume we are on our own for reservations, but all of us at or near the same location might be nice so those without transport can snag rides, otherwise, I can reserve the house. Friday through Monday works for me as well. It would be much better for my boss. Nemo, for sure, I can get you at the airport and get you to the hotel and around. I'm planning on bringing my tri bike as well as the little Breezer for getting around on the course.
  • Okay, there are tons of houses on vrbo for Madison available race weekend. Like this one. I vote for getting a house and packing it with sherpas, because what could be better than a giant sherpa slumber party?

Does somebody want to pick one and be the banker? I'm in. Tell me where to paypal $$$.

    http://www.vrbo.com/206483

  • And Beth makes 5 :-) Sheryl ,we're almost there! I bet we can get Kitboo to join us. She's gotta be there- she's the one who put down the pink bikini bet in the first place!
  • You can count me in too, especially if we are going cheap pack-em-in style. Friday through Monday should be doable.

  • Make that 6- think I should be able to swing on a shoestring.
@Nemo- if I drive, I can bring both my bikes (tri & road)
  • So how many do we have for the house then?  Here is my count: Sheryl, Shelby, Kathy, Nemo, Beth, Jennifer and Kris.  Total count 7!!  This is gonna be fun   Who else?????  I'm with you Nemo...bat phone to Kit........

  • Also traveling ladies, I'm happy to be chaffeur if you want to fly into Chicago. -b

  •  Kris- that would be awesome if I could borrow a bike- would REALLY help cut down on the cost.  I've PMed Kitboo- I'm sure she's gonna want to get in on this as well.

  • Ok I have NOT agreed to any pink bikini. That would not be attractive! How bout a racer ack tyr
  • Don't worry Sheryl. Beth and I have been scheming an alternative that will be hysterical and I think all of us will be able to pull it off. Think more grey haired water aerobics betty and less blond beach barbie :-)
  • I haven't met most of you personally but you're making me wish I hadn't signed up to do IMWI! Sherpa'ing, renting a house for the weekend and the pink bikini or tyr sounds way more fun! I know we're still 11 months out but I live in Milwaukee so if there's anything I can bring for your adventure I'd be happy to. I'll be driving to Madison but my car usually just sits in the hotel parking lot so I can certainly make it available to you if you need it for the weekend.
  • I'm in for the Sherpa Fun House!

As for the pink bikini, that was my bet that I lost. (Who would've thought 12 doodes would wear that speedo?!) So I shall be sporting a bikini (time to step away from the ribs and cake). Of course, it will say EN Boyz Rule on the butt. Any Chicas can join me in this, you know...image

Having to wear a pink bikini might be just the encouragement I need to finally hit my weight goals...since that Snickers ice cream pie I had at lunch probably won't get me there
