Bike/Run test in OS 1st week

Although I've started the OS plan and am in wk 2, I still haven't 'officially' become a member yet. I plan on transfering my trial membership to being an official EN member nex week after I'm done with my oly race this weekend. My question is this:

Can I use the race as my 'test' for the run and bike? I have a hrm that I can wear. IF you don't recommend it, and think I should do the tests individually, I'll leave the hrm at home.

I'm not sureif I should have posted this here, but  the micro-linktook me to the forums page

Thanks.

  • David- You'll want to put this into "The Trial Members Micro Thread: I have questions about what to do THIS week" thread. Just click on the last poster's arrow or go to the last page of the thread. RnP will see it faster there as they check those threads first and it's for responses specifically from them re: the plan.

  • ahhhh. I see it now. Thanks. I'll move it over there.

  • While the race info could be used i think separate tests would prove much more useful. Yo will want to measure progress during the os and the best way to do that is to make the test conditions as consistent as possible. Your next tests wont be during a race so your comps wont be as meaningful. Also are you planning on getting a power meter? Its obv recommended pretty strongly in da haus
  • Mark, what you say makes perfec t sense. I'll do those as stand-alone tests. I'm kinda glad because I really didn't want to have to jack with my hrm during the race.....too much of a distraction.

Regarding the power meter.....I'd like to get one, but it won't be in the very near future.

  • Additionally, you are testing at your max, I want to puke, effort for each discipline. You won't be able to do that in an OLY race. Some ENers do use 5k races as their measurement for vDOT purposes, but using a full tri to spot your numbers is probably not going to be accurate.

Sorry, I could've answered your question before, I misread it and thought it was more micro RnP specific image

  • no worries........you read correctly. It should have been in the micro thread. It's just a bit tough learning my way around the website, but I'll get the hang of it eventually.
