WKO+ ?

Once again thanks for the look inside EN, it has been very enlightening.  My question revolves around WKO+ software with the powermeter:

Doe the EN data tool analyze the data the same way as WKO+ software or is that a separate purchase that is needed over time?  I have used the trial version of WKO, so I am familiar with the software, but didn't know if that same data information was available within EN without that separate purchase.

  • Data Tool is NOT at all similar to WKO+. The Data Tool simply logs your FTP/VDot/T-Pace progression. WKO+ is much more feature rich.
  • Data tool is just a way of recording your test results and spitting out the zones, which are based on a table.

WKO+ is the default ride analysis software that people use and it's pretty much the gold standard. If you are a paid training peaks user already, most (but not all) of what you want out of WKO+ is there.

Golden Cheetah is a free alternative that does much of what WKO+ does, but it uses slightly different metrics (xPower instead of NP, etc.) whose correspondences you need to learn. If you get the manual to RaceDay (comparable cost to WKO and no reason to choose this if you are not a Mac user), it will explain the slight differences. Like anything regarding your power meter, you might have a slightly different absolute number, but you monitor changes and percentages, so it's not so critical.
