Reviewing Daily Workout Data

Hello everyone. New member here...hoping i'm posting in the correct group. I've been doing a lot of reading and already feel that i've learned quite a bit. I was curious though if there was a preferred method to review bike/run data recieved via HR monitors and bike computers. I read much of the Data Tool documentation and it stated "The Data Tool gives you the means to track your swim, bike and run test results, as well as determine the prper training zones (in power, pace and heart rate)" Can it also be used to review "daily" metrics if someone was interested in doing so? If not, suggested alternatives?

Thanks in advance...

  • Henry,

The data tool allows you to track test and races, its not an every day tool.  I use WKO+ but I train with power and have a garmin 305.  You can input your wokrouts in to this program but its probably an expensive option if you just have a bike computer and a watch.

I used an old spreadsheet, the tri-geek spreadsheet to track my information prior to moving to WKO.  I not sure what else is really out there so hopefully someone else will chime in.

  • Highly recommend moving to WKO+ or some other software that has the ability to upload the info from your device(s). Trying to type stuff into a spreadsheet is a nightmare and once you actually start using WKO and get used to all the information it puts in front of you, you will never go back. An inexpensive way to get the run data in is a non-GPS garmin with a footpod. You can find them on eBay with an ANT stick for around a 100 bucks. I've found the footpod to be pretty accurate, and quite handy for dealing with a compbination of treadmill workouts, an indoor track, and the outdoor runs.
  • I like WKO+ myself. The software that comes with Garmin devices should be enough to track your runs and rides with heart rate but you will need the footpod.
  • Thanks for the information everyone. I'll be checking into WKO!
