TSS for IM

I read this a while back and I am wondering if the data drum worked and you have figured out the longer than 6:30 bike.

 from the article/link

"As an example, looking at IMCDA 2008 1,080 folks rode the bike sub-6:30, 920 took longer than 6:30. Clearly we need to have a solution that meets that other 50% of the field. We are working on improving the guidance for folks who ride the bike longer than 6:30, but this takes time and data. We are beating the data war drum inside EN, but it just takes time. Gotta figure out a way to bribe folks. "

  • Welcome, Karen!

In the IM bike execution section of the wiki, the guidance for bike splits >6:30 (which mine most certainly was at IMWI) was to aim for an IF= 0.7 and let the TSS be what it is. I finished my bike leg at IMWI with an IF=0.68 and was fine for the run (ran the whole thing except for 30 steps and the 30 steps of walking at the aid stations).
  • What Kitima said....we basically found that anything lower than .68 is virtually sleeping on the bike, so let TSS be what it is. Our goal should be to get you to a 6hr IM ride time by boosting that FTP in the OutSeason!!!!
