Short videos to download too that show how to do the moves. Did them all this morning--loved it. Do P90X ab ripper for the firat time later today or dragging K into it with me tomorrow. (Evil laugh.)
Ab Ripper X--not soooo bad. When you start with 15 reps. LOL! Combine that with an hour Pilates class during the week and that should work really well. Pilates, IMO, is every bit as tough, and since it's longer, the muscle fatigue is huge--esp. when getting back into this stuff.
Then I did about 45' of the P90X stretch DVD--loved it. It was a great end to a Friday.
I'm so lucky I got this loan. David, my friend, doesn't really want it back for some time, so I'll keep checking it out and likely get my own.
For the first time in I don't know how long, I forgot to set the alarm. When I woke up and realized what I had done, I just thought "ah, forget it". I could have done a 45 minute routine, but sleep won out. Already falling down on my core work. Pathetic and ridiculous. But I am coming to the realization that I deserve the rest. But I hate feeling fat!!
I am mostly pleased with the first week of this endeavour. I got in 2 days of puhup challenge (couldn't do the other day way too sore). Got in Leigh's upper/lower abs and the LE routine. Just downloaded/printed the 2 new ones she posted.
I have been getting up at 6 to get in 30-45 minutes first thing so I can't slack off later. So far it's been working.
Abs feel strong, much less sore than earlier this week. I know it takes 4-6 weeks to build muscle but I think exercising the abs makes me more aware of them. So far so good!
I fully intended to go to yoga class last night, but couldn't take any more of zen church of yoga and all the talk about finding my prana. Yoga class tolerance =1x/week.
So, I did core work. Forty-five minutes, with lots of bosu ball/pilates/plank on medicine ball sort of stuff. It felt so good.
So good to read how you girls are working it! And M, luv the Booty Bar comment!! LMAO!!! I hope to gain some motivation by osmosis here, as I have been pretty much a slug, eating like I"m still training for IM! I have Chicago Marathon next weekend, and have been trying to get some running in. Having issues w/my right foot...a very tight tendon that burns when I run! ARGH! Going to make myself go to the Y today, and see what I can do in the way of cardio and some swimming. Going to lay off of the weights until after the marathon. I'd like to get the mojo to start my OS in Nov, but don't know if I'll have it or not. Going to try to sign up online, for IMFL, which will make an entire year to work. I think I'll sign up for Yoga, as I need some balance, physically and mentally. School has been insane. Haven't read all the way back to the last time I was on here, so I hope I haven't missed out on any major announcements, injuries, etc. Hugs to all! And Becky, I know you are gearing up for FL! Can't wait to track you and to hear about the race! I know you will rock it! It is 53 degrees and windy here today. Hope the rest of you have a nice day to do whatever you desire! Happy Saturday everyone!!!
@Carly and Beth--awesome. It's so true that once you get into the routine of doing core work, after a time it's like that part of your body craves it. Feels so good!
OK, I thought/knew this would happen to me with the Ab Ripper X. My misgiving when I started the first set was that there was NO warm up before getting right into the work. Today my back is killing me, and I have NEVER had this before in all the years of core work. Sooooo...before I jump into that again I will do my Pilates core warm-up exercises, which make a big difference in lubing things up before you ask your body to do the hard stuff. Hope this back strained goes away ASAP.
definitely need a warm up before hard core ab work. especially if you've been sitting for a while before hand!
dug up the other two core routines (I had originally made 4 with vids) so those are up in the wiki table of contents now as well. one is a plank routine and the other is more of a combination one (meaning it works a few things at once).
officially kicking off my return to exercise this week. plan is to bike 2 days this week and 3xcore work. cross races this weekend. will push off running till next week most likely. just don't feel like running yet! hahahaha.
Gina!!! I'm in a hotel and the fitness room doesn't have any pull up bars, no place to hang my bands. I'm bummed. I'll just do 100 Push up and 200 sit up challenges and do the push up portion of P90x along with the ab ripper.....It is gunna hurt like a mutha....This works with tomorrow's run test right?
