"Drillbit" Update:
As most of you know I've been down for a little while but have got back at it with the workouts (slowly) since the treatments. So I thought I'd clue you in to how things went and the statis of my cancer etc...
Long story short on my treatments: They were some very intense 2 week long treatments. (2 weeks of literal hell even for Drillbit) 4 days in a row 1st week then 4 days in a row 2nd week. They basically gave me enough chemo (4 times the normal they give) to almost kill me but said in part they thought I could handle it because of the great shape I was in. Let that be a lesson to all, to never give up on staying fit and healthy as possible because you just never know when you'll need it. I truely feel this is part of the reason I was able to get through and get rid of it this round. There are lots more details of course that would bore you all but it was great to keep my mind occupied with seeing how many of you were out there suffering in your races and training.
First week back trying to train has been a challenge in more ways than oone. I have just been so drained physically I just don't want to get out there and do a workout but mentally I do. Also as I went out for my first run I thought the legs felt pretty frisky and thought "this may not be too bad" then I hit mile 1 in 8:07 and thought oh crap that felt like what used to be by MP of 6:30. So reality has set in on realizing I will need to slowly get back into the game and just do what Trent of Today can do.
All of that said , I am excited to have signed up for Muncie 70.3 as it gives me something to look forward to and a goal for the motivation to work through the tired times. I have been posting and bragging of all the drug taking I get now but in reality these are only really going to help me get back to normal levels in the body since the chemo has sucked it all out. If I am lucky maybe the doc will give me an extra doses for good measure and I'll start competing with Contador and the like. Ha ha!!
One final note I didn't want to forget is the incredible support from the team EN members. Honestly I think I had just as much if not more support, thoughts, prayers, etc... than my own family and friends here locally. We really do have a pretty rare crowd here and one that I am glad to not only be a part of for the Triathlon knowledge but also in the other things we go through in life.
Thanks again to all and I'll slowly try and get back to my old self. Lets just hope and pray 2011 is the exact oppisite of a year for me with no crashes and the Cancer thing gone and in the past.

@ Nemo - Amen to that
@ Trent - I'm in awe. I'm not dealing with cancer, but for various reasons (can't swallow yet, so I'm tube feeding; still with broken neck, so in C-Collar, lost 10% of body weight, 33% of blood, etc.) I can't train yet. When I make it out of this, I've got to get you to a high altitude training camp with me on Colorado in early June. IM CDA (end of June) is my goal, just to toe the line and finish.
Trent,
What? You come back from an extended training taper and you can't hit a 1 mile PR when you finally decide to get off your butt? Nut up!
Seriously, many (most!) people on the face of this planet can't run an 8 minute mile...ever! We are all just happy that you're on your feet and getting going. Please give yourself a proper amount of time to get back up to speed. Trying to hurry things along is a sure way to get injured.
Glad you're back, and I second the call to have 2011 the year of no crashes and illness!
Mike
Great to hear you are getting back at it. You and Al are simply amazing folks.
Trent,
Congratulations on making it through the treatments! It's great to see you back at it. Hopefully the drugs will do what they're supposed to and you will be back to your old self.
Matt
What Mike said, what the F you come back after that and run 8:07 I would take that on a good day of being healthy all year.
Glad to hear you are doing good and you are right about being in shape, never know when your going to need it.
Just so so good to here from you and know that you made it through the chemotherapy. You were an real inspiration to us at IMWI and continue to inspire us with your comeback. Yes! 2011 = no crashes, no cancer.
Great to hear you are getting back at it. You and Al are simply amazing folks.
X2!!!
Which OS are you doing? Will we have you back in November?
8'-Trent or 6'-Trent--we don't care!!!! Just so glad to hear from you and that you're on the road back. What a terrible ordeal. Stay strong--we're with ya.
Trent,
Great news on getting back to workouts. Take the bikes as runs as they come, you will have plenty of time in the OS to get it back and beyond.

I hope you guys both know we all think very highly of you both as individuals and athletes alike. You inspire us with your racing and training. Now you inspire us with your heart for patience and recovery. Thanks for that inspiration but seriously....you two are Long on the over-achieving end of the stick.
Vince

@Al, also I think you are doing a pretty amazing job at keeping your spirits up already. Both of you guys heal well and we'll be thinking of you.
THanks to all. You all keep me (and I'm sure Al too) going with all the encouragement.
@Al-- I will hold you to that and will look forward to be able to train with the "One and Only". Will be my honor.
@Chris-- Don't give me that crap. You are competition even at my best. The guy who runs a 1:30:xx in a HIM with his knee turned inside out.
Glad to hear that your feeling better. Nice to see you getting back into it.
Trent - welcome back, dude! WOOHOO!
And to have Al posting AND talking about IM CdA in 2011? I have a huge smile on my face!
