Weigh in 10/13

So how was the weight loss this week?

I gained 2 lbs.  My head was not in the game and ate a ton over thanksgiving here in Canada over the weekend. 230lb for me.

Here's the spreadsheet:

  • I'll have to post to the sheet tomorrow when I can weigh in in the morning.  Just got back from whirlwind travel day, including some classic travel food, so I might have held steady or might have lost a little.  As of Sunday I was down 1#, so with the 3 days since (and the travel) who knows.  Stay tuned....same Bat-time.....same Bat-channel......

  • Down 3.6.  Did sneak in half a piece of cake but it was on a day I got in two sessions...trying to limit dessert to once a week.

You've been so disciplined! I ate an entire Oreo pie in front of you last night (I'm a BAAAD wife); and you didn't even cave.

  • Well Dave, I'm up 3! I nearly fell off the scale when I saw that this morning. I can't figure out how it would jump that much in one week, but I guess it's a good smack in the face to stay on top of things!
  •  Posted to wrong forum before.... Up 1.2, I'll live with that but I have to stop drinking octoberfest and eating DD breakfast sandwiches!

  • Down a pound was shooting for 2. Need to get back to planning meal based on food groups and calories not just do it in my head. Also need to
    cut down on the extras.
  •  down 1.6.  have a race this weekend and then will be taking it easy for two weeks before the start of the OS on 11/01.  Goal is not to gain weight during that time...

  • sigh... this is killing me... the upward trend continues.  this is not what I need heading in to taper.  grr...

  •  @Becky: so sorry, that must be killing you.  Have you tapered your food intake also?  I have found that I have to eat the same way I train, if I'm training light, I eat light, heavy training, more eating.  And I found that raw vegetables and fruit can taste good and when its most of your diet at certain phases of your training you can maintain or lose weight.  I hope it all works out for you.

  • Scared to get on scale. So forgot. Tomorrow for sure...
  • Up 1.4.  Not so good but still seeing alot of variation. Still feeling good about keeping-up with the journalling in Lose It! Not feeling good about yesterday's first trip to the Cider Mill.

To those down for the week, keep up the good work. Thanks for the inspiration.

To those of us that are up, let's make this next week great.

  • Update: Weighed in this AM and am down 1.5# from last Wednesday, so pretty happy about that.  If I stay disciplined, I should be out of the 170's by the time of the first November weigh-in.

  •  Waited until today to post hoping for a loss.  But alas my weekly weight loss streak has ended!  I am still at 203.  Still down significantly over the last dozen weeks, but I think the Pringles, Reese's Pieces and making snacks like this XL cookie are getting in my way!  I made a nice dent in it last night!

    Back on it next week

  • And just to one-up Starkman, I weighed this morning at 202.  (Is that incentive enough, John? HAHA)

My nutritionist is still frustrated that her 'cleanse' program doesn't seem to be working for me. BUT, I'm eating healthier than ever. And now that I seem able (and willing) to return to my running and swimming, the weight might be easier to come off! Here's hoping!

  •  @Scott - Throwin' it down!?  Race to 200?    I'll give you a 1 pound head start.    And, as a bonus, I am mailing you half of the cookie below.  Just don't tell you nutritionist.

Also, how long have you been doing the cleanse?   I did the cleanse dealio earlier this year and I didn't lose much weight in the beginning myself.  Took a few weeks.  I think my body wanted to hold onto what was there and then final started releasing.  I actually thought it was some adrenal issue for awhile.

For me, the other side of eating cleaner foods was the age old wisdom of counting calories.  I still needed to eat fewer calories than I burned.  The upside is that compared to the past, eating cleaner burned more fat than muscle.  And once your running starts ramping again you will be a calorie burning machine.

    Don't get discouraged.

Oh, I know you, and light beer is not considered a "clean" food.

  •  @Scott and John:  what did you do for a cleanse?  I've read about some and I rather have my balls go into a vice.  I radically changed my diet last year and didn't see great results for a few weeks, then the weight suddenly fell off, it was awesome, but man I was sick of raw vegetables.  I hope to do the same this year now that I know what to expect.

Pssssst, Scott, you know regular beer IS considered "clean" food!!!!!!!!  Give me a Guiness anytime.

  • Come on John, I'm always throwing down with you! Whatever it takes to get us BOTH to our goals - and to have fun doing it! Smack talk encouraged, appreciated and reciprocated.

I've been doing my nutritionist's 'cleanse', in one form or another, for several months. But none of it has yielded the avg 12lb weight loss she claimed. I don't want to lose that much, but just want to get to right about 195 - and stay. That's my ideal race weight, experience has told me.

I've found that my calorie count is still at a decent defiicit to my ~2300 cal RMR, but still not shredding the weight like she marketed to me. Starting to get a little discouraged about it actually.

@Dan, my cleanse consists of: Smoothie for bfast (banana, flaxseed, whey protein, 2 cups of fruit and 2 cups of water), apple for mid-morning snack, super salad and some lean protein for lunch, baby carrots and celery for afternoon snack, super salad with more veggies and lean protein for dinner. Basically, no processed foods, no grains, no beans.

She said I would only have energy to workout about an hour per day, but I've been defying that and had plenty of energy. No, I don't use any infinit, gu or other calories - only water - during my workouts.

Yeah, I'm getting sick of baby carrots and my asparagus for dinner, I'll tell you that. Gotta find some substitutes quick.

Ahhh, don't get me started on the greatness of Guinness!   It can do no wrong, if you ask me.

  • Scott, I love ripe avocado, red peppers, and baby carrots.  Note:  TRIBE (no substitute there, others are dry) garlic lovers hummus can be used on almost anything and makes it taste great too.  Try it on most raw veggies, especially when you get sick of carrots, and I use it religiously on broccoli too.  Grill the asparagus with some olive oil and kosher salt with cracked pepper, steam any of your vegetables for dinner and just add garlic salt! Or grill any for that matter and they are great.  Get a bunch, put in a gallon ziploc, add some kind of vinegar based dressing, let it sit for an hour, then grill the vegetables, good shit brother.  The grill just about makes anything good.  Acorn squash split and gutted, and grilled or roasted (add syrup and butter and you'll eat it every night) with some salt.  Anyway, I hope you don't lose focus.  The weight will come off, and no doubt you'll have plenty of energy for any workout.  I didn't use anything for training for my HIM until one RR and the race itself except water.  You'll be amazed how far your body can go on fat when its used to burning it.  Guinness of course......

  • Grilled anything is great!  Agreed!

My favorite snack right now is green apples and almond butter.  Tasty.  Sweet and the almond butter makes me feel satiated.  I also like Brown rice tortillas with just a touch of canola oil spread on them and then heated in the oven @ 375 for ~ 5minutes.  Use the pizza cutter to cut into 1/8's and eat with hummus.  Yummy!

I also like Quinoa for a great carb and mixing my proteins up by making shish kabob with steak, chicken or fish with all the veggies.  Kinders makes a great zero sugar garlic marinade or I make my own marinade.

And I am not a beer guy, but my Guiness on occassion is this:

Sometimes you just gotta have a cheat day!  :-)

  •  Holy shit!  That will kill any diet for 2 weeks, I love it!

  • Not exercising a lot, eating. Weight is relatively stable. Thought I had emotional eating under control, but last 2 days, stress at work and I am eating chocolate as in : eclairs, hot chocolate, bananas covered in chocolate sauce, chocolate - caramel filled candy, Halloween chocolate candy.
But things can only get better. Right?
  • @ John-ok REALLY missing CA right now.
