Plymouth MA Iron Distance Tri...anyone?
Hey noreasters...
Trying to figure out what 2011 is going to be all about. Did IMLP in 2009, took a break in 2010 and am getting the bug again. I am looking at the Plymouth Iron Distance tri up in Mass. Anyone do this before?
I am teacher so it is difficult for me to get out to a destination IM due to the school year. This one is close by...any info would be awesome..
I mean, forgive me if i sound ridiculous but if it is NOT M-Dot, is it worth it? (ok, slap me!)

Other non-Mdot IM-distance races in the NE are Chesapeake Man in MD (end of Sept), Espirit in Montreal (mid-Sept), Rev3 in Sandusky, OH (mid-Sept and who doesn't love Cedar Point?), The Canadian in Ottawa (early Sept).
Are non-Mdot races worth it? That's like asking who makes a better pickup truck: Ford or Chevy. I like both---WTC and non-WTC races. Mdot races are big, well-organized (mostly), and have alot of hoopla and lots of over priced Mdot labeled stuff to buy. Grass roots/indy races have a different vibe---mellow, local, and just as fun. Depends on what kind of experience you want to have.
Ford makes a better pickup.
Kitima...Hi! you know, after I posted I remembered that I asked a similar question on the forums a couple of years ago and guess who responded? you!
Your sentiment was the same which says alot. The more low-key event could be cool, I have been checking out the "ultra" thread in here as well and it seems like there is a contigent of folks that really like that indy/homegrown feel.
Might be something to check out!
thanks for the response
This is the link to the thread where Carly asked the same question. My long answer is there.
If you're into setting an IM PR (and who isn't?) check out the Esprit in Montreal. Flat, glass-smooth pavement, low winds; a recipe for success.
I was on the fence regarding doing this race up until mid-June this year. I wound having so much fun rolling the brevets that I bagged the idea of doing any triathlons at all. So now I'm hoping someone else in EN will do it for me.....
