Question about Plans/Power vs. HR

Hey guys-

Another quick question before I go all in with a membership image I do not have any type of power meter, so do not train by watts.  I can train by HR, but do not know my current zones.  Can I still be eligible for this type of plan?  Thank you!!!!

  • @Lauren - your situation is not unsusal here in haus. I am (as are others) in the same situation you are in and only train with HR. Initial testing will give you zones to train with, and continued testing will show you how your hard work is paying off (as well as your new training zones). Jump in, you won't be disappointed.
  • Ditto, did my first season of EN without a powermeter all the way through the first IM. Little bit harder to gauge yourself, but the HR still is useful. Hope this helps!

  • Hi Lauren,

If you look at your training plan, you'll see jazz like

    2 x 20 (4') @ 95-100%/Z4/Hard. Remainder of time at 80-85%/Z3/Mod-Hard

    for a bike workout:

    • 95-100% = power guidance, for folks with a powermeter
    • Z4 = zone 4 heart rate, for HR folks
    • Hard = Rate of Perceived Exertion (RPE), for everyone or folks with nothing.

You'll find similar guidance for the run.

You then just pay attention to the guidance specific to the training tools you have (power, pace via GPS, or heart rate) and ignore the rest.

  • So, is there something =built in the plans to find my zones in the beginning of the plan?  Right now I have no idea what mine are, last time they have been tested was 2 or 3 Ims ago image  And Id like to get as accurate as possible.

  • Lauren,

    1. Go to the Trial Members Start Page
    2. Go to the Essential Resources Section and click on the Quick Start Guide
    3. This is a .pdf that explains our training zones, etc
    4. Your EN plan will have tests scheduled which you'll use to set you training zones per the Quick Start Guide.
  • Last question, I promise image I bought the OS advanced plan. Does it automatically upload on this website, or is that only if I pay the $99 per month?
