Wineman - The Ironman of the beer-mile

I wish I could say I had a race report to share from this event but I had a previously booked anniversary dinner that night so was sadly (but smartly) unable to attend.  Which is a pity because unintentionally/serendipitously this is what I have been preparing for since IMC (by doing very little other than drinking and running).  Details removed to protect the guilty:

  • Craig,

Probably, no for sure it was a good decision to start accumulating the SAU and attend the anniversary dinner.  Not sure how many years it would take to get back what you would have lost there.  Maybe you would have never recovered them?

Sadly enough I've been doing the drinking without much running.  My problem with the AA division would more likely be the 13 miles not the beers.  On second though 14 is quite a few beer.  All I can say is I have not tried mixing the two in a long time.

  • HA HA HA! I don't think I'd last a single mile!
  • I can't even begin to think how I would do this. Though it does intrigue me....
  • Sounds like the bad dare I did after a training camp in tucson. Run a lap on the track , drink a beer , repeat .
It doesn't make for a happy ending (at least didn't for me).
  • Results are up.  1st place finisher did it in 36:55!!!!  6 miles, 7 beers, 36:55.  Wow.

    Other notable finishers:

-a guy who competed in triathlon in the Beijing Olympics

-a guy who finished top 10 at IMC this year

-a guy who did it in 2:05:56 - ON CRUTCHES.

Two guys actually did the 13 miles/14 beers variation.  Winning time for that was 2:10:33.

  • Did my own crazy thing last week, While in Florida for a police convention they closed Universal for us to have a party. Free food, beer and roller coasters

Even been on a good ride after a bunch of free beer, I can proudly say there was no  for me never like to waste free food and beer.

  • Wow those are some fast times and the guy on crutches that's just insane.  I've been on them twice and would not want to be going 6 miles.  As for the AA category not sure I could do a 1/2 in that time without drinking.

@Steve - I'm only tried coasters once after drinking and that was the next day.  Needless to say my head was spinning, no bucket though.
