IMLP 2011 lodging advice?

Thinking about lodging for IMLP 2011.  Anyone got suggestions?  I'm coming with my oldest daughter and happy to look at various options (hotel, house, etc.).  Will have a car and don't mind staying a bit out of town and driving in in the morning.

  •  Hi Bill, I did the race 2 summers ago, but have been an avid ice climber in that area for years and I love this place  rockandriver.com

  • I just booked at the Crown Plaza in LP on Monday. I was shocked when I called them up and they said they had availability. It'll be nice to right near the center of the action.
  • We stayed there last year, Very nice, except for the HILL!! You do have to walk up and down a hill to the hotel everytime you go out.... It was tough on my wife who had to push 2 kids in a double stroller by herself several times..... And a real B#@%* after the race when I had to walk up the hill with all my gear and bike!! May not be an issue for you, but thought I would add my two cents.......
  • For 2 IMLP races (me and Kevin) and countless trips to volunteer,spectate/heckle---we've stayed in Saranac. It's about 10 miles outside of Lake Placid and easy to get in and out of the town. We've stayed at the Adirondack Motel right on Saranac Lake. You can take Rt 86 right into Lake Placid. It's very quiet and out of the din of race week nuttiness. You can even go fishing off of their dock.
  • I think some folks were looking at group options here (Allessandro Commodari was one, but he's on "hold" right now). I have always been close to town b/c of kids...I suggest you look a bit further out as it's nice to just chill.
