The Women's Uniform Thread

Hi Ladies,

As you know, our uniform order deadline is this Sunday. We really, really want to get the Chickas into the new EN gear so I thought I might help you along by dropping a thread in here specifically for you.

Please see the 2011 Uniform Thread for specific ordering instructions, etc

Gina's Tri Kit Notes

  • Fabric: Lightweight, breathable mesh. Finish shouldn't be "shiny"
  • Sizing: true to size, per the fit charts

Top: 3/4 length, recessed zipper. Large, single pocket in back. I am 36" in the chest & a large fit me comfortably snug. Susanna is 34" in the chest & the small fit her comfortably as well. The length however is another matter for her. In the small it barely covered her belly button (she is long waisted) {Rich's bold here}. I measured XL front and back:

  • Sugoi kit : 18.5" neck to hem front/20" in back
  • LG kit:   17.25 neck to hem front/22.5" back

So, the LG top is longer in the back, but shorter in the front. No tramp stamp burns, but you better have the 6 pack ready. Rich edit: see that this may specific to Susanna

Shorts: Fit true to sizing. I was comfortable in a medium. Tri pad was soft, not bulky. Inseam on a lg was 5", hit me mid thigh. I can't imagine anyone in the haus needing an ex-small ( even Neems) & for our athena girls (trying to be diplomatic) the XL top will be snug.

Tri Kit Inseam Lengths (from LG)

  • Inseam for women's is 6.25", again assumes a size medium on the body.
  • The inseam will vary slightly depending upon size.

Cycling Kit Notes

I sent Gina all of the women's sizes and included 1 x men's large in "Drop" fabric, so she could sample the fabric. However, I also mistakenly included a men's Super Corsa cut large jersey and she took this to be a women's Super Corsa large, so her original guidance was off (my fault, I figured this out last night when I went to Wheelbuilder and lined up the fit kit stuff with Rich's stuff)

So, from Gina:

Jersey is relaxed fit, full zip, 3 pocket, sleeves hit mid-bicep. I found the sizing to run SMALL. ( 5'8", 130#, 36" bust)

LG jersey- TIGHT overall on me

XL jersey- still binds @ shoulder/sleeve junction & snug across back

T cut short- seemed true to size

I tried both LG & MD, for me MD would be fine

LG & MD - 6" inseam, hit me mid thigh

nice "rise" in back to prevent sunburn

                  1/2 " waistband & leg gripper

leg gripper seemed "loose" on my thighs in both sizes I tried

I spoke with Gina last night and, bottomline, is you want to consider looking at the Capo size charts and:

  • Go UP a size on the jersey

  • Shorts fit true to size

Jacket and Vest

Unisex cut, men's sizing. So you want to use the men's measurements.

I hope this post gets some of you off the fence and into the kits. We've listened to your feedback this year and have done a lot of work to create a good combination of design, quality and value. We hope you decide to purchase and wear our gear!

  • Thanks Rich, this is VERY helpful!!
  • Cant wait to get mine image I got the small...hope it fits image
  • gina, now that you have met me, would you say I am a small???

  • I'm totally struggling on what size to get. My measurements say Large, but I really really do not want a short front (I have a longerish torso and am constantly finding shirts too short). I am thinking of going XL and taking the sides in if need be just so I can get the length. Or I was considering going for a men's S. Ugh, any opinions would be welcome, the argument with myself is not going well.
  • Just ordered my stuff! I ordered men's, as I am an Athena type gal. Hope I chose wisely!
  • Jen & Marianne- You guys asking about tri kit or cycling kit??

  • Doh! I'm talking about the tri singlet. Advice?
  • All right. I just spent 1/2 an hour measuring me, reading Rich's and Gina's notes, and looking at online reviews of gear for fit. My decisions, just in case they are helpful.

    1. Medium tri top. I'm on the borderline with chest measurement, so I'm sizing up because the waist measurement seems microscopic. EN Kit: Last year: Small, total clubbing top. This year: Medium: Still kinda clubbing top, but wearable.

2.Small shorts: Measurements seem true to size and similar to DeSotos, etc. that I have -- including small EN shorts.

    3. Medium jersey: Every review and note and measurement says to size up. Every other jersey I have is a small or extra-small (Castellis, Twin Sixs, Giordana)

You don't need an XL. You are smaller than me &  the XL  was too big on me. Look back ; the pictures.

I think it will fit race snug across the bust & just right ; the waist.

  • Ha, I was searching for the pics but couldn't find them, though I remember they were not super snug. I'm pretty heavily leaning toward going for a men's small, just cause the measurements of the XL front would hit me just about at my belly button, so I'm assuming that the men's will be longer, and better fit my torso.

I think the women's will be plenty long on you. Please note the picture that is short waisted is of Susanna. She is 5'9" & LONG waisted, has on a small.

  • I based my order solely on the fact that I raced in an LG kit last year... hoping it's the same cut, etc.

if not, and if others are sorta in the same boat - hopefully we can start a "swap" thread and it will all work out!

What Gina said. I measured this morning. I think this thing is actually going to cover my abs and tramp stamp area.  I consider myself long waisted, but Su must be very long waisted.

  • In the picture featuring Su, her navel is just underneath the hemline of that top. Her shorts are probably lower than most people wear.

  • Ahhh there they are! Thanks, was racking my brain to remember what thread they were in. Ok, then I'll go with what the measurements tell me image I think I was thinkng the picture of Su was the large too, not a small!
  • I am still waiting to find out the inseam on the men's tri shorts...I am waaay too old to wear 5" tri shorts!
