Ironman Florida Race Day Tracking Thread!!!!

Can't believe this thread hasn't started yet!!!  I'm back from my morning run and just now checking into the updates.  Does anyone know what the weather is like in Florida?  The video of R&P on the bike course looks like they are bundled up pretty good.

  • Awesome- looks like the whole team is out of the water, out of T1, and onto the bike!

Nathalie and Becky finished the swim within seconds of each other. I wonder if they saw each other in T1?
  • Nemo...I'm so lazy...do you have bib numbers? I just got back from weekend warrior....
  • Go to the EN Raceday Tracker site here:
    http://imfl.endurancenation.us/
  • Got it! Thanks Nemo!!! I don't want to go ride bike...just want to watch IMFL!!!
  • So we are only getting splits @ 55 mile mark on the bike...weird
  • on IM live they are broken out at 55 and 95 mile markers..less fun to track, oh well..about 2/3 of the team through the 55 mile marker

  • Yeah- Florida kinda sucks that way. We'll probably only get 3 splits before the finish on the run too.

The team looks good- and FAST!!! Holy cow they are FLYING!
  • Looks a little chilly ... brrrrrr

  • @Nemo - Thanks for getting this thread going.  I got up this morning and went direcly to my computer but to do a paper.  I just remembered to check in now.

Nice job with the swim and the early bike splits team.

I noticed that the T1 times are not all that mostly over 10 minutes.  Is it a long transition at Florida?  Don't get me wrong I had a 12-13 minute T1 in Pentiction but I would not consider my time fast.  I just noticed that of the 14 times posted there were only 3 below 10 minutes.  For those that have done the race in the past I'm just trying to get a feel for the venue.  I know Wisconsin has the march up the helix.

  • I think they changed transition a bit since I did it in '06. You used to run up the beach, through the "showers", and then strait into the parking lot where you grabbed your bag and ducked into the changing tent. It didn't seem that complicated to me at the time, but I seem to recall hearing that they changed something in the past few years that made it longer??? Anyone else know?
  • We've got quite a few folks through the 95 mile bike split. The live feed occasionally shows the bike finish line with folks handing off their bikes. I'm hoping to catch an EN singlet in the crowd :-)
  • !st ENer off the bike! Under 5 hours! Unbelievable. GO Team! Hang in there folks.
  • Is someone from EN out there on a bike?
  • WOW- Lots of ENers rolling in off the bike sub 6 hours. Go Team!
  • Clarification on my post....on the marathon course on a bike.....
  • Wow - Becky's 2nd bike split is up 1.6 MPH over her 1st, everyone seems to be doing the last 17 miles quite fast, must be a tailwind.
  • Alfredo Zullo is smokin. I think they did say they were seeing a tailwind on the way back in. Great job Becky!!!
  • Ugh...we have to go pick up our meet and look at a sustainable farm. Would rather sit here and be a slug watching IMFL!
  • Nathalie is off the bike! 6:15 split and looks like she was pretty steady.
  • Becky is off the Bike 19.98MPH over the last 17 - 6:32:28 bike - wow she really built up that ride!

  • Awesome! Love seeing the ladies finishing the bike strong!
  • That was a great final 17 miles!!!
  • So awesome that the team was flying through the ride!!! Just got back in from Chicago race this morning, so just got on to check out the team. GO TEAM EN-IMFL!!!
  • Wow that biking was awesome!

Run time! Alfredo is flying! Go EN chicas! Can't wait to see the splits

Am heading out, but will follow updates on email - keep-em coming!

  • Looks like it's gonna get cold out there when the sun goes down. Hope the gang put long sleeve shirts in the SNB.
  • Just now checking in (combination of West Coast time and my rehab keeping me busy). I've got two observations. First, why are the transition times so slow - I haven't seen the course since I did it in 2000, something must have changed to make it so long. Second, why is it so hard to run the first six miles slower than the next 7? I know the course is a pancacke, so it can't be hills. I bet we don't see that from Becky or Nathalie. I bet the colder temps are making people into feel really good out there on the run.

  • @ Al - I was wondering the same thing about the transitions.

Great Job on the bike and into the run team.  I have to head out to the in laws now so will not get to check back in until the race is over.

  • From what I heard on the live broadcast, the wind really picked up and was also impacting the pacing of the pros on the run. They must have a head wind coming back in from the park.
  • Just saw a guy in white flash the EN gang sign- around 11:17!
  • Just saw EN come across 11:53, didn't catch the name.! Looking good!
