Week 1 run thread

 What a beautiful November 7!

About 45 degrees when I went out to run.  2 x 1 mi at 6:38, 6:39 pace.  (TP = 6:51)  Total just around 10K in 46 minutes.

A few years ago, this was my ~56 minute route.  Life is good.

Now off to the last soccer matches of the outdoor season...looks like it'll be 60+ degrees for those...no complaints for that - only problem is two kids play in different towns at the same time so I don't get to watch both!  Have to coach one, so I'll have to hear the other's story after the fact.  Oh well.  A small damper.

  • Also a nice crisp fall day here in NH.  Ran  along the ocean, got spashed a few times by a very high tide.  2 X 1 mile repeats were 6:00 and 6:05 pace     6.8 miles total in 50 minutes, 7:10 pace for the total run.

One week down  only 19 to go.   Lost a few pounds this week by not eating everything in sight.  Also following the Charles Barkley diet :  If it tatse good, spit it out.

  • Did my run at the track, really nice morning. I am glad I forgot my Ipod just ran and enjoyed the outdoors. Did the full 45min run, went with the standard warmup then on to the 800's. Hit all the pace goals +or- couple of seconds which I thought was pretty good. I had 8 min left on the run when I got done with my intervals which I ran at HMP. Total miles ran was 5.10. Week one Done! 19 more to go!

  • Did 8.51 miles total this morning. Nicest day we've had on Oahu in almost a week so it got a little warm. Z4 pace is 8:55. Did 2 X 1/2 mi at 8:57. 8:48(oops) and then 1 mi at 9:07. The mile fell on the hilly portion of the loop plus running the second 1/2 a little hot probably added up.
  • Flipping awesome running weather in Denver today! Well, OK, a little windy, but hey, it feels like summer! Yea!

Felt horrible for first 3 miles of my run today. For a while I was thinking that I shouldn't have even been out there and considered heading back. I did turn around, and ran toward where I could either bail to home or continue. I continued!! Once I started the TPace miles things clicked and I felt great! Not sure what that was all about. I guess it could have been the tail wind...but who cares! You gotta love when a run starts out poo-like and turns out great!

Bob - that Barkley quote is hilarious!!

Congrats William on smoking your old time on your local route! Little victories like that are sweet....

Great work on week 1 team!! Rest up and eat well...more to come.
  • I ran a little extra today as I am running a half in 2 weeks. Started with 4mi @ 8:40, then I hit my 2 .5mi @ 7:12 and 7:17, then the mile @ 7:24. Followed with a couple more miles after that. Really was feeling the effects of 4 straight days with plenty of threshold work. Really looking forward to a day off tomorrow.
  • Was a beautiful day for running here as well. Too bad i was on the treadmill. Did the 2 at T pace which felt pretty hard today. Stopped at 45 minutes on the dot.
  • Posted twice but hoping that we can get things moved over here for week 2, or just in one place anyway.

I got in my run this evening on the treadmill 2X1/2 mile 4:55 &4:55 and 1X1 @ 9:47.  I felt tired today and did some walking in the warm up and cool down but got the main set in.

Even though this is my 2nd OS last year I started the bike in November and running in January.  Starting both at the same time has given some extra fatigue.  Good thing it's a short work week coming up for me which means some extra sleep.

    Entire workout (137 bpm):

        Duration:       45:02

                                Min    Max   Avg

        Heart Rate:    105    162    129    bpm

  • I did the miles as part of a 10K Bridge run--across the Ben Franklin (NJ-PA) and back.... and then through Camden (NJ), past the USS New Jersey, and then back to Campbell's field (minor league ballpark). 10K in 57min, which for me is fairly quick. Doubly so on tired legs. Perfect day for running. image
