Garmin 310XT + Power Tap Display

I just got my power tap.  Got it installed, got the garmin to connect with it.  I can't figure out how to get the garmin to display the power readings.  When I go to display settings it only lets me choose from speed, time, calories and HR.

  • Carly, did you change the sport to Bike mode? To do this hold down the mode button on the left side until it shows the sport menu. Select Bike 1, 2, or 3. Then you can go into the display settings and choose which fields you want to display.

Let me know if this helps or not.
  • Stephen- I do have it in bike mode.  It gives me the option for 4 displays, but again one of them is not power.

  • It's confusing the first couple of times, but try this: Mode for 2">Bike 1[Enter, right side]>Mode>Settings[Enter]>Bike Settings[Enter]>scroll down using the right side arrow buttons to Bike 1[Enter]>scroll down to ANT+Power[Enter] scroll to Yes. Now, when you hit the Mode button until it takes you back to Bike Settings, Enter>Data Fields[Enter]>Bike 1[Enter]pick 1,2, 3, or 4 [Enter]scroll to the field where you want power to show up and [Enter] scroll down to Power[Enter]then hit mode as many times as necessary to back out.

Don't worry, the learning curve is only steep for a few days. I downloaded the manual from Garmin, the quick start guide that comes in the package doesn't tell you all you need to know. You're going to love it once you get the hang of it.
  • click and hold the mode button - this will allow you to choose a sport
  • sorry, i just re-read that you have it in bike mode - Neil gave good instructions for setting up data fields.
  • Thanks all, I was able to get it set up.  It always amazes me how I just miss one little step at the end and then it doesn't work.  Anyway, got the test done.  OUCH!  Now I just gotta figure out how to transfer the data from garmin connect to WKO+.

  • Carly, the transfer is easy from the 310XT to WKO+ using the Device Agent s/w that comes with your PT. Alternatively you can use the PowerTap Power Agent s/w to download from the PT computer then export the PowerAgent file and drag and drop it onto WKO+. I've never tried extracting the Data from Gramin Connect. If you want me to walk through this with you I'd be glad to.
  • Stephen- I was able to get the workout into WKO+ and I can see the graph.  The directions say to highlight the graph to determine FTP, however I can't highlight anything.  I can only click on it to see specific points.  I'm not sure what I am doing wrong.  Thanks again for all of the help.

  •  Carly-  see if these instructions for how to create a range help you out a bit:

  • Ok, I had downloaded the wrong thing.  So, norm power is my FTP?
