More wtf.

I hope if I get hit, it's by a working stiff that can be prosecuted.

  • Total SUCK! Alot of legal shenanigans going on...
  • It's disgusting. I can only hope the restitution is a sum of money so huge it essentially bankrupts the guy- but I think I'm going to be disapointed there too.
  • Ahhh the life of motor vehicle violations, while it does suck it happens everyday. If you want to kill someone do it in a car.

He has little chance of them going back to a felony, especially if this his the defendants first time.

  • I know the guy who got hit. Played baseball with him in college. I have emailed him but have not heard back from him. As for the restitution, he doesn't really need the cash. He's a doctor and his wife's family is LOADED. Hedge fund manager father-in-law if memory serves me. but yeah, bilk the guy.

Using this guy's logic, we shouldn't test for PEDs in athletes because if found guilty they couldn't earn a living.
  • I signed an online petition about this case to try and stop the prosecutor from dropping the charge. Apparently it didn't work. It was on Change.org but it's gone now.

Really makes me sick. You want to protect your job, then be a responsible citizen. Driver is just trying to protect his lifestyle.

Just makes me ill that stature and wealth make a difference.

  • I thinks is quite funny, "Felony convictions have some pretty serious job implications for someone in Mr. Erzinger's profession, and that entered into it,” Hurlbert said.

Hurlbert is the same person who filed rape charges again Kolby Bryant some years back. It sure seems like money can buy a lot of "things" in Eagle County.
  •  Between this and the pedophile author, Colorado is having a really bad month from a publicity standpoint.  Good thing the cycling here is so incredibly awesome... at least when it's not winter.

  • Thanks for the follow up story Neil. The whole thing still makes me ill, but at least I understand a bit more the reasons behind the plea
  • Read the follow-up. What I don't understand and he did not explain- why didn't they charge the driver with a felony and skip the suspended sentence part?
  • More, it's not what you know but 'who you'll owe' back room dealings. Who says money can't buy you love? Gotta love this deal.
