Ironman and 70.3 tracking on iPhone

Just thought I would share something that I found out about recently... a little app for iPhone called Pele.  

It serves as a tracker-app for the WTC races.  It's not all that fancy or feature filled, but I used it to follow friends at IM FL, and it worked just fine, and is a LOT easier than using the browser on the iPhone and the ironman.com site for just the tracking function.

It will be available for Clearwater to track your friends and/or EN buddies.  Cost is $3.  Search for Pele in iTunes and then click on Apps to see a few screen shots.  Like I said, it's not some giant fancy doo dad, but it seemed to do its intended job well.  I just think of it as an alternative to WTC having adapted its tracking page for mobile users, which we all know it has not done.

I saw this too but it still relies on the crappy WTC web data right? Maybe at $1 it is a buy....

Yes, that's correct. It's basically just a more convenient way to use the Ironman web site...nothing more.

What I like about Pele is you can easily find past results, which can be a challenge on the ironman site. Also, you can easily view results by age group during and after races.

It's a very basic app, but it works ok and if you track races often it is worth it. Of course if you are only tracking EN folks, the race tracker website works even better.
