The new Map!

Hey, it looks great!

A question and an observation:

How often does the map pull from the profiles?  I modified my profile this morning, but I'm not on the map.

At the first zoom in level (an inch = 1000 miles) it shows Nor Cal as a blue dot with an 8 in it.  But if you click on the dot it zooms to show a blue 3 and a yellow 13.  It seems to me that that first level blue dot is not aggregating properly.

But I like the dots idea - it does a nice job of identifying cells.

Nice!

  • We will update about once a day for a week to allow athletes to modify their profiles and see the results. After that we will be doing it a few times a month since that info doesnt change much.

Nothing wrong with the aggregation, it aggregates by using a grid so as you zoom in it can 'discern' a bit more and picks more detailed hotspots. You will notice in the case you have pointed out that that as you get closer it adds more to central/so cal.

    thanks
  • @ EN Tech Guy - Awesome Member Map! Wicked kewl....

  • Hey - I'm not on the new map! I was on the old one - is there something I need to fix on my end?

  • @ Joe - did you put your ZIP code in your profile? I think that is were your location comes from.
  • It's great to finally be on the map, so to speak. Anyway, the new map is sweet.

One question I have is identifying members that have the same zip code. For example, when I zoom into Ann Arbor, MI, there are two members. When I zoom in far enough to see them individually, I can only see 1 of the 2. I assume they are on top of each other. Is there away to get around this?

    Thanks!

  • Paul - I have seen that too. In the cases that I have seen, if you drill down as far as possible, it will spread them out just a touch so you can get to them.
  • Ah, yes, I didn't zoom in to the 2 ft zoom level. . I can see them as you indicated. Thank ENTG!

  • Love the new map guys! Thanks!
  • Thanks for keeping the pressure on us to make EN better!!!
  • I updated my profile to include town and zip code but I do not appear on the map  is this EN's way of telling me something

  • Hi Steven - Google maps is confused and does not know where 'Behind the Stove, Massachusetts' is. If you take that out or leave your city blank it should be fine after the next update. Thanks!
