Nov OS Week 3 Day Off

It's Monday! I started the 100 Pushups Challenge today....can't feel my arms.

Loving the Mon/Fri day off schedule!

Comments

  • I have to agree that I like the day off very much. Legs feeling better after my 10k yesterday, been to the mall, about to have lunch. If only I didn't have to go to work later.
  • Shifting every week by one day, probably. Did my day off yesterday. Doing the 2x12' (adv) tonight.
  • I've been feeling like the days off are right on time. My legs are fatigued but not terribly sore.

  • happy rest day NOS
  • Had some free time (imagine that) and decided to swim to see where I was. Surprising - after 6 weeks of no swimming, probably lost about 4sec/100m on a 1500m swim. So, no anxiety over not swimming for now.

Legs are feeling it - starting on the weekly epsom salt soak and nightly "stick" self-massage as preventative measures!
  • Couldn't muster the mental fortitude for 2x12 tonight, so I did 3x8 instead (.96, .98 and 1.01). Rounded off the whole 55mins at .87. Felt good!!!
  • I know OS is doing it's job on me... Monday recovery means Foam Rolling while watching my Redskins get thrashed! Hope OS is treating everyone well!
  • day off turned into a 20 minute recovery ride, some upper body weights (beach body focus only), and stretching. i'm going to test and see whether the recovery ride is helpful on Tuesday as I always seem to have dead legs after a day off.
  • Day off included a light swim and physical therapy for hamstring.
  • Day off was working from 0730 Mon to 1000 Tues. Now for a nap so I can do the bike/run later
  • light swimming, position progression drills, swim golf improving.........
  • I did nothing cool, I worked on of my part time jobs and drove a few mentally ill people to different hospitals, we went to a friend's house and had drinks. My head hurt this morning.
  • Missed my normal OS swim today.  So far, 4 trips to the bathroom and back (ok, I know, TMI) with some type of food poisoning I suppose.   I think I have about reset the entire system and hoping to be back online in time for tomorrow's brick.  Not the best way to spend the day off but better than having this issue during one of the important days!!

  • @ Shaughn - my son calls that poopie-finger from when he was in Outward Bound. Appaerently someone in the group had bad sanitary habits. Not saying that was the cause of your 'issue' but since you opend the TMI box.....

Hope things are 'cleaned out' by tomorrow...... =:-[

    Run Strong my friend......
  • I don't take days off. It throws off my sleeping habits. I was up at O-dark-thirty for a 1hr easy spin on the rollers (~0.7IF).
  • I am doing the OS swimming. Working strictly on technique and stroke. Todays swim went well. 2600 yards of pure beauty. I had a older gentlemen ask me why I was bringing my hands/fingers out of the water. I explained to him that is one of the drills I am doing and he started laughing at me, shook his head, and walked away. I haad to giggle to myself cause he is a great guy and one of the swimming coaches. The drills are getting easier for me and this week (week 4) is my first 1000 yard timed swim to determine my "T" time.

Last year at Kansas I believe my swim time was 39 min so yes I need to work on stroke and technique.

Back to the pain cave in the am......loving this thing they call the OS

Gilliatt is keeping me in check btw

Thanks brotha!  drinking lots of water - which so far seems to keep passing straight through..................the morning should be interesting..............

  • I'm going to give up yoga for a while. It seems as though one of those crazy poses put a strain on my shoulder. According to our wiki data base, it is a shoulder impingement, So, it's back to easy swimming to get the shoulder back and help recover.
  • @ Shaughn - no word since yesterday..... I assume things have 'smoothed' out?? No, I do NOT need details..... =:-/

@ Joe - gotta watch those funny poses.... they can hurt pretty bad if your not ready...

  • i'm taking today off (tuesday). i've strung together 4 days in a row as i was late on thursdays bike, then did tuesday's early. i'll do the thursday bike (with the tues brick) tomorrow, then the wednesday run on thursday. my legs hurt just trying to do a dash up the stairs.
  • I'm all off the schedule this week.  After a good bike session Monday, I decided to take today off to help heal up my hamstring.  Cooked up some good healthy food with my spare time.
