  • Coach P - I dont get it.... is this a deadmill relay or solo-cyber type? Is it on Turkey Day or over the extended weekend? Can I just go out the door and run 27 miles and call it good? Details man, I need details.....
  • I think I agree with Steven. With so many new people here I think more details are needed.

If I remember correctly Steven you join a team. How you join a team I have no idea. Make some friends I guess. 2 or 4 people to do a total of 26.2 miles. You are on your own for when you want to run and on your honor. Pretty sure if you run a 1:10 half you will get some looks. Also, I am not sure what dates you need to run between.
  • The sign up form has the following details:

The Team option has 4 athletes each running 6.55 miles for time. The Ultra option has 2 athletes each running 13.1 miles for time. Each team should have a regional designation
  • If anyone in the Twin Cities or Midwest wants a team, I'm in but I'm slow....

  • I miss my long runs so much since starting with EN that I think I want to run the 26.2 solo. If I do team-up, the minimum I'll run is 14. No speed records going to be set here, just an excuse to go long.......

@ Tucker - there is no way I could run a 1:10 for a half mary..... My PR is more like 1:44.
  • Assuming the ground in WY (heading to visit the BF's fam) isn't covered in blizzard like conditions, I could get 6.5 miles in!

So, EN chica looking for a team... Kate, Nemo, Suzanne - how bout an EN Alexandria (and beyond) team?

  • If anyone is around Kansas City, or in the midwest, I'd be in. I would either do the 13.1 or 6.55 miles. Either way works for me. Probably will run on Thanksgiving day, as I'll have my daughter for the remainder of the weekend.

p.s. My member name shows Winnipeg, Manitoba, but I'm moving this week and will be a proud new member of the Midwest Region !!!!

I bet it will be a relief to no longer have to plug in your car overnight - Winnipeg is COLD!

  • Coach P- a few rule clarification questions for you:
1- does the relay need to be completed on TG day, or can it be completed any time over the course of the weekend?
2- does the relay leg for each individual need to be completed in one single shot? (can the 6.55 miles be broken down into 2 or more seperate legs completed at differnt times over the weekend, or is it one effort)?
  •  Will the rules allow Kathy to do this with me since she is on hold until December???

  • How do we see who else is playing?
  • @Nemo, any time over the weekend. Multiple installments or repeat efforts is okay.

@Sheryl, anyone can sign into that spreadsheet.

@ Tucker, check out the spreadsheet here: http://bit.ly/flQGlu (I have added the link to the top of the sign up form).

Only 8 folks in so far... image

@Sheryl - I'm not superfast either, and I'm in the NW, not Midwest...but maybe we can get a EN Ladies team registered if there are any others wanting to do it?

  • Ok so I think my team needs a handicap. We are going against Ancona, Hansen, Sullivan and Hayes? Shit we could only do half the mileage and it would still be close. Do we at least get some points for creativity? We have Jersey Shore nicknames:
    Pete - DJ Petey Giesin
    John - J-Woww Winthrow
    Evan "the Package" Odim
    Tucker "the Situation" McKeever

    That is our only chance.
  • Cement Shoes might help!!
  • J-Woww on the board in a 37 degree rainy monsoon run... I may not run fast, but I'm for sure "Faster than Snookie"!
  • Well, I'm not sure what I am doing. I figured I could run 3 days in a row (F-S-S) and get the 26.2 in. But then saw a post by Coach P and I asked to join up with him on Wednesday. By late Friday hadn't heard back so thought that if I use the 6 miles from Wednesday's workout, then ran both Saturday and Sunday I could still get all 26.2 done.

So....yesterday went for a run with my step-daughter in the snow. It was 26* and snowing lightly when we started, adding to the crusty sidewalks and shoulders. The pace was easy, Sierra is in her last semester and just doesnt have the time right now to run regular. The first 4.5 miles with Sierra was at about 8:52 then Sierra headed home as I continued. Second half was a bit faster at 7:52. Total run 9.28 miles in 1:17:00 at 8:18 pace.

So, My thought was if I include the 6 from Wednesday, 9.2 from Satruday and run 11 more today it will be in the bag. Still not sure what Coach P is up to. I've got some chores to do like fix the damper on the woodstove, get studded snow tires on 2 vehicles, and decorate a tree in the door yard. Think my 11 miles wont start till late this afternoon.

Coach P, if you're out there, let me know what you run and save me some miles today....... got your PM but you never commited to how many miles you were going to put up......

  • @Steve, I put up 8 miles today...in 58:30, so use that please!!! Stop running!! image Super impressed with your work ethic this early in the year!
  • OK Coach, sorry I just couldn’t listen. I have been missing running since the OS started. I saw this as my legitimate excuse to crank out some volume. And I even got my weekend bike in too.

With you 8 miles today, I don’t need to use the Wednesday workout. So with 9.2 Saturday and 9.0 Sunday and your 8 we get the full 26.2 in 3:27:06 Not too shabby.

Saturday 9.28 miles, 1:17:00 @ 8:18 (first 4.5 were with my step daughter who is a little slower)

    8:48, 8:34, 9:06, 9:12, 8:12, 7:54, 7:53, 8:07, 7:13, 2:01 (7:12)

    Sunday 9.0 miles, 1:11:36 @ 7:57

    8:50, 7:56, 7:36, 8:11, 7:57, 7:45, 8:12, 7:54, 7:16

    Team Crooked Pine 3:27:06

  • So Team NIL is MIA, but Faster Than Snookie went 3:16 and Team Crooked Pine went 3:27:06....let's get those results in Mancona!!! image
  • I know Hayes and Jim got it done as well, but Matt S injured his foot so he made the smart decision and backed off.

I put my result in the spreadsheet on Sunday.  I used the middle 6.55 miles of my sunday workout and ended up with 39:46.  My body didn't feel good that day, but not horrible either, just flat so I simply got it done.  Old mancona would have ingored my body and just said screw it and ran 13.1 on sunday to try and win.  But I'm trying really hard this year to actually listen to my body and stick to the training plan so I only did what I planned on doing.

yes, I turned done a challenge and walked away.

Hahaha, it's not a real win but when will I ever be able to say I beat you guys in a race ever again that doesn't involve drinking beer?  But let's be honest, we know who the real winners are.
